Omg our whole family has been watching this guy's youtube channel, it is BANANAS.
My mom had minor plastic surgery because she was having trouble seeing (eyebrow/eyelids drooping) and she couldn't feel her forehead for a year. Thinking about that - but whole face -freaks me the hell out.
I was already going back to owning physical DVDs... looks like music is next.
Only HALF of one of the best movie soundtracks of all time (Shrek 2, fight me) is available via my Amazon music subscription. I can't get the whole thing unless I own the actual CD, WHICH I DO - I just don't have anything to play it on. I hate the streaming ecosystem. It didn't have to be this way.
I couldn't eat anything with sugar during my whole year-long ordeal after food poisoning - it was TERRIBLE but also I felt great. LOL. (Honestly it probably wasn't the sugar so much as the fact that to avoid sugar you basically gotta eat a ton of fresh veggies.)

Mine: I took French and as an otherwise straight-A student I was SO embarrassed by how bad I was at it. So of course that was the final I missed - I did not realize it had been rescheduled to an earlier day until I was awakened by a phone call FROM MY PROFESSOR.

Yeah my understanding is that not everyone even gets serious symptoms. On my mom's side I guess it's not too bad (other than the excessive bleeding) but I don't know any of the women who are genetically related to me on my dad's side, so I've no idea.
I feel like they should give out all of this with your first mammogram at 40. Like hey, peri is coming! If you start having any of these symptoms, check in!
My GYN was fortunately super on board. Walked out with a prescription, told me to report back in two months to see if I need a higher dose. I think she assumed I'd know the signs, but no, I did not! She gave me a whole booklet on it and I was like, oh... shoulda got on this a couple years ago.
While this does resemble me, I don't think this is a problem unique to autism. I don't think people in general are educated about perimenopause! I'm baffled at how many times I've seen doctors over the past couple years and nobody said "oh hey, hormones might help with this."
I once quit a gig because my editor rewrote a sentence in a review I wrote without my permission. Seems quaint, now.
My husband is also dealing with AI crap at work and all I can say is when this bubble pops, it's gonna explode. Implode? One of those.

Back to school night for my high schooler. So thankful I was able to get him transferred into this school. It's amazing. Every teacher was on point, even PE. (Actually, PE was especially great.)

I loved those. I never read Bunnicula as a kid but I was aware of them and my own kids looooove them.

I let him watch the movie of the musical and we'll be going to see the sequel, but yeah I actually super hate all incarnations of Wicked, lol. (I think I got 3/4 of the way through the book before finally throwing in the towel.)

My 12 year old is currently tearing through the Oz books - kind of amazing that the series is still riveting kids 125 years after its original publication! (Almost to the day - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz came out September 1, 1900!)

I saw this going around the other day and told my husband, which necessitated explaining Garbage Pail Kids to the kids, which then necessitated explaining Cabbage Patch Kids.
Also attending Worldcon and going to panels and meeting up with people was all more important to me than Hugo voting. So there might be a lot of eligible voters who are just attending for some other reason and figure they will let the folks who actually care do the voting.
Also I nearly missed the deadline for voting - I would have missed it entirely if someone hadn't posted in a SFF discord I'm on. If there were "voting closing soon!" reminders they were lost amongst all the other Worldcon emails.
Just as a newcomer (attending Worldcon and voting for the first time this year), I found the entire system pretty inaccessible. It took me a long time and several attempts to figure out how to download the packet and open what I wanted - and I'm pretty tech literate!

Once again MS Word is shoehorning AI into its framework. Opened up my WIP today only to have it provide me with the most inane "summary" at the top, and no way to permanently disable it in the browser app. We did this a year ago. I think I'm done.
Months ago I preordered a figurine from Japan. It was supposed to ship next week. Just got the notice that it won't be coming for... however long this idiocy lasts. Obviously there are a lot worse things getting held up, but it's just one more reminder that we're being held hostage by this a-hole.
