It’s been 60 years since Medicare and Medicaid were created. Today, millions of Americans rely on these programs, including 90,000 Floridians in my district alone who depend on Medicaid for lifesaving healthcare. I will always vote against any cuts to these critical benefits.
My hometown of Parkland was devastated by gun violence. There’s no good justification for axing programs which law enforcement groups say have helped meaningfully reduce gun-related homicides. This decision is going to make communities less safe.

I’m relieved that after pressure from me and my colleagues, the Administration is releasing these resources for Broward Public Schools. Our public schools rely on them for everything from after-school programs to teacher training, and ending this freeze gets them funds they planned for.

Under the Administration’s freeze on public education funding, Broward Public Schools are missing more than $30M in critical education resources. I’m leading my Broward-area colleagues demanding they release these funds and ensure FL students and teachers have what they need to succeed.

Absolutely ridiculous. DOGE hasn’t made a single thing more efficient. I led my colleagues to stop DOGE’s attempt to completely eliminate the Social Security phone line, and we can’t let them render it useless now. Our seniors need this resource to access benefits they earned.
Ghost guns are untraceable and can too easily be obtained by dangerous individuals. I’m proud to reintroduce my bill to ban 3D gun blueprints with Sen. Markey, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Rep. Schneider to curb the threat of gun violence that has scarred too many communities like Parkland.
Today marks 10 years since the Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. This was a historic step forward, and it’s a reminder of what we still must do to advance LGBTQ+ rights and protections, including by finally passing the Equality Act into law.

It’s been 3 years since the Supreme Court ripped away access to reproductive health care for millions of women in their Dobbs decision, and the fallout has been horrific. I will always stand for the right to make personal health care decisions and fight to codify that into law.
I had a great meeting with the Florida Health Care Association, which represents 600+ nursing centers in our state. In Congress, I will always oppose cuts to Medicaid, which would threaten long-term care facilities and the health care of hundreds of thousands of Floridians.
These indiscriminate tariffs have been terrible for small businesses, leading many to reduce staff hours and delay products. I met with some small businesses owners to discuss these challenges and how we can boost American manufacturing without a self-sabotaging trade war.

South Florida is facing a housing inventory crisis. Realtors like these are working hard to get Florida families into the homes they’ve always dreamed of, but we’re in agreement that more needs to be done to increase supply, lower costs, and make homeownership more accessible.
It’s the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Griswold v. Connecticut ruling protecting the right to access contraception. I’m a proud supporter of legislation to enshrine this right into law, because access to personal reproductive care shouldn’t be decided by any politician.

We’re now in hurricane season, and we’re still not seeing federal emergency declarations being issued in a timely manner. FEMA has had challenges for a long time and needs reform, but withholding these declarations is only making recovery slower and less efficient.
I’m closely monitoring the terrorist attack in Boulder, CO. This vile, antisemitic attack on peaceful protestors—just before Shavuot—must be condemned & responded to with the fullest extent of the law. When they said globalize the intifada on social media this is what they meant.
