Sadly it’s probably going to take a major environmental disaster that is going to have devastating consequences on our health and prosperity as a nation for enough people to wake up. People in this country are just completely dependent and feel entitled to the convenience that fossil fuels provide.
I think you are underestimating how quickly we will feel the effects of this. We are already feeling them to be honest and it’s only going to get a lot worse in the coming years. But the only way to preserve our future is for us to band together and make it happen. Fuck relying on the government.
It’s risky. I’m not sure if it’s a fight Democrats can ultimately win. Republicans just have more places they can gerrymander and the rules make it easier to do so. But given the circumstances, there really are no other options. This should really be illegal everywhere in the US though.
