Official reason for letting Trump's tariffs remain in place despite finding them unconstitutional is give him a chance to appeal. Worth noting that courts can issue a stay, blocking action they deem unconstitutional unless a higher court allows it, as one did with Biden's student loan forgiveness.

Also, as others have pointed out, many don't actually consider themselves to be ending a relationship "over politics" when they disown someone for being gay or having a black partner or whatever. They see it as being a good parent, or good Christian. It's only politics when it happens to them.

This is a poorly framed question. Lots of conservatives would cut off a family member for being LGBT, for example, but that doesn’t clock as a ‘political view’ to them. Also, the narrative that leftists cut off their conservative family members too easily is extremely widespread on the right.

I believe you’re making a good faith effort to be fair here. But I think the phrase “political opinions”—which may sound innocuous—is driving a lot of the reaction. It’s a euphemistic phrase we’ve seen used to downplay the total, uncompromising worldview that’s radicalized so many of our families.
