It's peculiar how legacy admissions (read: not merit-based) often displace more qualified students than any DEI program at some schools, to the benefit of one racial group. Despite the extreme racial disparity, the Dept of Education doesn't seem upset about it. Weird.

The armed rent-a-guard makes us feel the opposite of safe. The convoy of their vehicles all with engines running on a hot day while the occupants sit under shade trees are loud and diesel fumey. But if you stay away from the obvious tourist locations where they are on high-viz display, you’re good.
How much are we paying them for this? Plus the cost of lodging in hotels (like the Holiday Inn near me where a bunch are billeted). And food? Assume they get a nice per diem.
