I think it's true that clownishness is an important prerequisite for autocratic takeover. The autocrat needs to be not taken seriously by elites long enough to gain traction. In Trump's case I think the tackiness helps in exactly the same way.

I always assumed "USian" was used solely to save characters when typing here or on twitter, not as a standalone word with some other coded meaning. Similarly "GOPer" for Republican. I've never encountered either in the wild, only in the kind of online text that might also use "pls" for "please."
