Nice. I meant the store bought ones, where you peel the middle and then pull from either side. The ones in Japan always came out cleanly, but the US ones, the seaweed gets stuck in the plastic every time.
I want to try that some time, if only because the ones in the States never come out of the plastic as cleanly as the ones in Japan did.

I've seen every single major US publisher named as failing to register copyright (a contractual obligation for my books with Penguin Random House, of which they only registered 4 out of 7, and I expect for all the others too).

I actually do have that, I bought it after the computer went Tango Uniform so I could access the drive. Maybe after the reinstall I will look into Macrium. My backup is Backblaze and serves me fine, though, and I have drive access now for user data gathering.
(Oh! Also, I can take a fresh look at what I actually need as far as a processor. I was defaulting to a Ryzen because that's what the old one was, but if I'm doing a fresh install ANYWAY, maybe I shift to an Intel? And which of the many models is sufficient for my needs?)
And so it goes.
And a fresh Winstall means restructuring my data storage. I had hoped to just plug the old NVMe into the new PC, but nope. So I should get all my user data off of the NVMe and onto a backup drive, along with the new data acquired since, for transferring and reimporting after install.
Also I won't need some of the old PC's OEM software, like the controller for the secondary screen. Pity, I liked that screen--janky as it sometimes was. Another good reason to do a ground-up install.
The drive I'm adding was formerly on another PC, after all, with a different CPU--even if I get the same model CPU, which I likely won't, it'll be a different physical chip. I'll definitely want to freshly install Win11, so I have to check how/if I can make it licensed and activated.
This morning, I am realizing how out of date I am on hardware matters. Installing an NVMe and RAM into a barebones mini PC isn't exactly rocket surgery, but now that I'm buying a different brand/model of mini PC, I have new complications to consider.
Refund has been applied, so, points to them on that. Now I'm looking at probably a GMKtec, I think. And more of a basic model.
