No doubt, but communication using language is often imprecise. If you need people to use language in the way you perceive to be correct in order to understand their meaning; you must find everyday communication challenging.
I understand that it's an intrinsically humanocentric term. But I meant humanity as the concept of a fully realized set of emotions. Whether that is applied to an actual human or a sapient being of some kind.

It is, but it can also be bittersweet...the knowledge that in the end, things don't change even though there is a port in the raging storm. Sometimes the best you can do is keep from getting wet.
I will say that those that I like, I find to be really excellent. It wasn't meant as a criticism, but rather an appreciation for what you are creating. Feels like audio-visual art...which I appreciate even when it's not my thing.
Sometimes it's aimed at a utopian vision, and sometimes it's about getting a bit of peace for the character and their people. And while I know that some people marvel at watching it all burn because they love the fire...but those people are an exception rather than a rule.
I can't tell one of the most successful authors of his generation anything about writing fiction. But for me whether optimistic or dystopian is irrelevant as long as the characters are human. That is sometimes messy and complicated, but generally people want things to get better.
I have to say that I don't love all of your recent videos, but I do appreciate how each one is a genuine interrogation. I feel like I always have to at least give each a chance.

All art changes over time, and its impossible to gauge how well art will age in a contemporary setting. Some art ages like milk...other ages like wine...and even then the potential of even that turning to vinegar gets more more likely with every passing year.
Any argument that broadly declares the validity of any artform based on its creation date is short sighted...just like the ignorance of the fact that any art eventually ages and must be increasingly evaluated by using a mix of contemporary and historical context.
It would make sense for people who are involved in this level or criminality to associate with as many influential people as possible...even if they weren't involved directly in trafficking...it becomes in their best interest to prevent associations from becoming public.
That's just those we know about...but nobody actually wants to look too closely into it. The fact that the media is in no way interested in chasing down credible leads is very telling as to how deep the rabbit hole goes.

There's nothing worse than reading fiction, and feeling like you're having to work for the plot. I know some people really enjoy plowing through dense text...but if it takes your character an entire chapter to walk through a room...I'm checking out of the story.

And they delivered a truck full of money to Eddie's house to make it happen. Eddie still was clearly phoning it in...Harrison Ford did a better job with the voiceover in Blade Runner than Eddie did in Best Defense...and yes I am aware that Ford tried to make his performance as bad as possible.
Love these movies, Kelly's heroes is by far my favorite on that list. I would add Radioland Murders to that list personally. That movie never fails to make me smile.
I will unashamedly say that I've seen this movie a dozen times because I loved Eddie Murphy. As bad as this movie was...it's still much more watchable than Best Defense...and that's saying something.
