When my memory was better I could recall a poem with a similar line to Tolkein's 'All that is gold does not glitter', I think the poet was Alexander Pope and there was also a line about money 'a single leaf will waft an army o'er'.
Why can't those on the right hand side of politics seem to offer people much of anything except culture wars? Is it that difficult for them? If so what's the point of them?
If you look at any news these days there seems to be a large slice of reporting on, or around, racism - Almost every day I look at BBC News online and there's either another article about migrants, or Farage has said something.
I suspect with that fracking thing he doesn't actually want to win another election, and be PM, as he may think it's too much bother (and would get in the way of making dodgy , easy money for himself, which seems near the top of his list).

I own at least two of the hats featured.
I used to own several hens and a few ducks. I sold my surplus eggs and that paid for their feed. I did most of it cheaply, the eggs tasted eggcelent and it was fun. Also, they made me compost, ate scraps and provided me with lots of entertainment. I'm far less intelligent now though.
