Time for everybody to start painting their own crosswalks. Make the state come and pave over them all. Cost that state MILLIONS to undo what the people want. THAT is resistance. When they remove a rainbow we paint another one right back over it and a second one down the street.

This is actually a pretty great idea on many levels. It does humanize us. It might bring some pleasure to the National Guard troops who don’t want to be there. It also pokes holes in the narrative that DC is so dangerous. It’s safe enough for a comedian to stand there and tell jokes. Art is the way.

Just throwing out a hypothetical here… Perhaps the difference is that their families weren’t being physically threatened during the Biden administration? And maybe they are being threatened now? Because I’m just not sure why else so many tradjournalists would be so derelict.

I don’t think it’s crazy at all. I am in a “red state” and it is easy to feel held hostage here sometimes… (Incidentally, wouldn’t it be nice if there were no “red states” or “blue states”— just regular, old states filled with voters who got to decide things completely for themselves?!)
I think our deplorables are just extremely emboldened and loud right now. But good people have them outnumbered. As soon as all of the good people realize that—along with the degree of danger we’re in—maybe we can turn this dirigible of a democracy around. I just hope we don’t run out of time.
All of these fascists are trying to push the limits and see what they can get away with. We all have to push back however we can. When we comply in advance, they are emboldened. When we raise holy Hell, they back down. We cannot afford for them to be emboldened much more than they already are.
Part of the problem is that there are a lot of for-profit prisons. People are making money by putting other people into cages for some not-so-very-good reasons.
There are lots of different ways to resist. We all do what we’re able to do. We all just have to hang on and support one another as best as we can. ❤️

Same thing with some of my neighbors. I hear the talking points coming out of their mouths. Before the election, one lady I know tried to convince me that I should vote for Trump because “RFK is going to fix our food supply!” I simply said, “Trump is NOT a good man.” But she wouldn’t believe it.
I just keep wondering how many of their supporters actually fully know what’s going on. If all they watch is state-run Faux News, etc., aren’t they mostly in the dark? In every single Faux News clip I’ve seen, people are just flat-out lying. And huge stories just aren’t being mentioned at all. 🙁

FWIW, election administration is mostly controlled by state and local governments. Even if he does try to do something stupid—imagine that!—there will be legal challenges to overcome. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be keeping an eye on this. We should. But they want us to be scared. F&@! ‘em!
I think it’s fair to ask whether people are becoming more fearful to post on social media or whether algorithms are hiding some of the most courageous social media posts.
I think part of the answer lies with simply helping each other—looking after one another and sharing resources and expertise with neighbors/those nearby who need our help. This will partly be about mutual aid.
