Met them at the height of their fame, when we booked them to play the uni summer ball. They put on a great show, and were surprisingly down to earth. I remember their rider being something ridiculously spartan like a clean towel each, and 24 cans of beer. Stayed in the travelodge.

It's funny, I've always had a love for 'defunct' tech - I still have minidiscs, CDs, tapes, and what-not. I listen to digital and streaming radio a lot, but in the kitchen I have a nice old Roberts receiver, and I own 3 modern, full waveband SW receivers, as well as a portable CB set.

In the 80s, in the West Midlands town where I was born and lived in until I was about 8, all of our female neighbours were 'Aunties'. We still talk about Auntie Jean next door. It only dawned on me that we weren't all related sometime later, when a friend's mum asked me not to call her aunty.

There would have been travel in this general direction, that would have been inevitable, but it would be slower. By taking on UKIP the way he did, after losing a couple of crank MPs, he legitimised them (and Farage) in a way they hadn't been before. Cameron feared the cranks within, and without.
