Similarly, one can be opposed to Christian nationalism without hating all Christians. But judging by your crusader imagery, you think slaughtering people to establish a theocratic ethnostate is totally fine.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Bullshit, Zionism is a distinct ideology that demands an ethnostate be built exclusively for Jewish people. Zionists aren't even all Jewish, and not all Jewish people are zionists. Equating antizionism with antisemitism is absurd. Jewish people aren't the only semetic people, either.

KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
No, everything you mentioned is not an extension of capitalism. These are all creations of workers labor and could have been organized under various economic systems. Many came from public funding which models socialism. So reorient society by doing more socialism. fin
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
The right-wing propaganda machine is literally an extension of capitalism at work. Leftist understand this; we must reshape material conditions brought by the distribution of capital or nothing else matters. Centrists like Will try to pretend that they can rein in capitalism and make it work.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Is that in your opinion?
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not just that billionaires want to destroy people's creativity; They want to reduce labor costs to zero so they don't have to pay anybody and they can use their capital to print more capital. It's really just the next resource to exploit

That means there is still a faction of people who are NOT in support (30% and likely more, given people refusing to self report dissent) And the faction that are supportive, like with Trump, are likely heavily propagandized and can very probably be socialized out of it.

The result is a completely different approach to public health. Students end up in the hospital with their stomachs pumped; laugh about it the next day. Those suffering opiate addictions are treated as inherently criminal and unworthy of support by many. The norms are completely different.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
The point being that most of the complaints of unhoused populations aren't actually worries about the health dangers of opioid addiction... Their vague gestures toward what is seen as undesirable behavior. And off of that behavior is only undesirable because it's visibly public.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Merely agreeing with your position; lived in Lethbridge amongst students and watched extreme alcohol abuse and other shenanigans that would have been considered undesirable if it was happening in public... But it isn't because there's a difference when people are housed versus not.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
If Lethbridge provided the same supports to its unhoused population that University kids receive, The problem would pretty much go away. The average 19-year-old in Lethbridge is abusing drugs, causing just as much civil disturbance, they're just doing it from the peace of their dorm room.

I think so many people think capitalism is just the existence of money and capital. Which is why they can't imagine an alternate reality. They don't realize it's about how society organizes and defends the distribution of that capital. Years and years of anti-communist propaganda 🤷

Sure, I think that's absolutely true No point in having a free service that is not usable or accessible. But once that is established, the idea of having free fare transit is pretty good.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Or use congestion pricing and other taxes on cars to make it so that those who would take a car see economic gain in taking the free transit instead. Use these levees to fund the transit services. The main problem you've identified is underfunding Transit. So, uh... don't do that
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
"the story isn’t simply that making transit free doesn’t work. In Tallinn, a host of factors conspired to make transit less attractive—or, perhaps it’s more accurate to say, the car more attractive." Good lessons on how nyc and other cities can implement free transit and have it be effective.

Sure but not all of the 24 dead are Trump voters? It just seems strange and horribly insensitive to mention both things simultaneously as if they are the same subject. Certainly there are direct consequences a far-right ideology but we're getting pretty close to blaming victims here...

Anecdotal evidence is fine, but if you actually look at statistical evidence, the vast number of individuals in post USSR territories preferred life prior. I have friends and relatives who live in the US who would argue vehemently. That's not a robust way of analyzing economic systems.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
This whole thing primarily illustrates how race and ethnicity are really complete fabrications usually constructed as a means for majority populations to dominate, galvanize, and marginalize people. It's all weaponization which is why the Times teamed up with a white supremacist to publish it.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent

KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent

Even most of socialism's failings can be traced to US capitalist interests lobbying to overthrow and coup any movement that attempts organize the economy to benefit workers over landowners, capitalists and industrialists. I don't think that blaming our fellow comrades gets to the root here.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
I really think it's capitalism that has made this contemporary mess, it has distorted human motives, commodified everything, polluted the commons, financialized every interaction and atomized society, ruining land, community, and labour relationships
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure I think that's entirely fair
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Pair that with: "I'm special so I will get to become that selfish minority" Narrator: "He did not, in fact, get to become that selfish minority"
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Fair, but capitalism is literally designed around exploitation for private profit. Abuse IS the ism At some point we must acknowledge that collective democratic ownership of the means of production is a better ism, even if imperfect. Not taking a position is still deferring to the current ism.
KHāyes (@the-khayes.bsky.social) reply parent
Liberalism is a nice upgrade over feudalism and contains the roots of truly progressive ideals but so long as liberalism is an ideal based on capitalism, it will always attempt to export injustice and inequality into the imperial periphery. Thus a need for continued evolution into socialism
