I mean, I get it, but I’ve learned to have a modicum of hope after Judge Susan Crawford won WI by ten whopping points—and other victories since! The Dem party and esp elderDems are behind the curve. I hope the Dem party is taken over by a younger version. That’s the conflict I see coming.

How the popular eugenics ideology and “science” set the stage for Hitler. There were “eugenicists”—profs at universities included.
It goes back way before Hillary though. After reading Heather Cox Richardson’s “How the South Won the Civil War” and Jane Mayer’s “Dark Money” I realize the system was being gamed for long before I was awake to it. Thank you for all your work and office-holding, too.

The south deliberately did not allow train tracks to connect from one line to another because they didn’t want to be connected to the north, and they wouldn’t allow the line to go into what would become TX. So the Civil War was largely waged first as a sort of transportation war. Fascinating book.
One book that touches on this is Lincoln on the Verge which covers the importance of the railway, with continuous service in the north, to transit and also the distribution of newspapers which got info to the masses.

I must point out here that these recent young people who have done these tragedies have been deeply involved in online extremist formats. We need to regulate guns, yes, but also internet content/sites that foster extremist actions.

Wanna get terrified about where our public health is right now? Read Dr. Mike Osterholm’s book “Deadliest Enemy.” This man is the bomb and was on Pres. Biden’s pandemic team. He lays out systems for spotting epidemics, pandemics, etc. which are all in jeopardy today in a beautifully written account.
