I was doing this "guys I remember" thing with once-hyped Yankees prospects who never went anywhere, and apparently Andrew Brackman is so obscure he doesn't even have a photo on BBRef? He was one of the "Killer B's" that were to be the future of Yankees pitching, along with Betances and Banuelos.
Just preordered, but curious - I generally prefer e-books (after repeatedly having to move NYC apartments and having half the weight of my stuff be books); is there a particular reason it's not being sold in that format?
Terrifying! There was a brief window when formula wasn't available and I was legitimately worried about my newborn starving to death.
Also, my son was born in February 2020, weeks before the world shut down, so we had some extra time on our hands when he was a newborn.
My wife couldn't breast feed, so it was formula for both of them, and we swapped nights for who would be on baby duty so we'd always be getting a decent night's sleep every other night.
She never cried, she never interacted with us. I had to schedule when feed her and change her because she didn't know when she was hungry or needed to be changed. Eventually it turned out her ADHD was so bad that she literally had to be taught to be aware of her body and her surroundings.
This might be part of my daughter's special needs. I remember talking to her pediatrician when she was 2 and saying I was concerned she wasn't speaking, so the doctor asked me what she'd do if she wanted to get my attention, and I was kind of at a loss. She had never tried to get my attention.
They really mix well together. She's starting to get frustrated because her little brother is more academically advanced than she is - she can't read; she doesn't remember right and left; stuff like that - but she makes him a lot more social.
My daughter has no fear and so she makes friends everywhere she goes, because she just walks up to everybody and says "hey I love your hair / shirt / backpack/ whatever, do you want to be my friend?" My son can be a bit more introverted, and so she kind of drags him along socially.
Very lucky they get along! As for the feeling responsible for her, it's kind of the opposite. Her issue is an extreme form of ADHD, which on the one hand causes her academic issues (well below the first percentile in academic testing) but on the other hand makes her the most personable, outgoing kid
Now that they're 5 and 7, it's very clear that having two kids makes my life much, much easier than it would be if I only had one kid. My daughter requires CONSTANT interaction, from the moment she wakes up until the moment she goes to sleep, and if my son wasn't there to provide that I'd have to.
It's possible I'm biased here because my oldest child has special needs, but the difference in life difficulty going from one kid to two kids (my son was born when my daughter was 18 months old) was negligible. Having two kids was mayber 10% harder than having one kid.

People say this, but the NYC Metropolitan area (below) is 180 miles East- West and 140 miles North- South. Just from a land perspective, to be the same size the LA metro area would have to include everything from Malibu to Tijuana.
