In my red corner of a neighbor blue state, where the Clinton name was verboten as much because of NAFTA as being a woman, Gavin Newsom has no support even from Democrats. Even if he had good ideas, he'd be terrible for 2028. Only thing I can hope for is he focuses on social media and not candidacy.

Painted Hills is a bit of a stand alone, a few miles out of the way, but definitely easy to return to US26 on the way toward the Visitors Center. The little town of Mitchell isn't far away, and sometimes in summer it can be a nice place to stop off and get a bite to eat.

Federal charges are based on federal laws, and while I find the charges dubious, New York state laws are irrelevant.
There is no "keep it a state crime" here. The state has no say in what the feds do, but it's irrelevant because the state CAN bring simultaneous charges with the fed. Don't convince yourself of an excuse of altruism or because they want Minnesota justice... the truth is simpler and more sickening.
State and the feds can bring simultaneous charges, so a pardon would have no teeth. And, sadly, if Walz did not want federal charges brought in this case? Not only would there be a press conference to announce the fast tracking of a federal trial, Trump would be speaking at it and belittling Walz.

As much as I've harped on Republicans covering this up, sadly sex crimes are not just a conservative endeavor... That being said, Democrats *generally* don't get out in front of the news, they're all too often reactionary to it.
I think the idea is Trump and his handers have so much dirt on conservative shenanigans with children that they're protecting each other. If Trump goes down he'll bring down *everyone*... if, say, a Senator from a red state goes down? He won't have access to all the names like Trump has had.
I have a difficult time believing this is limited to businessmen, there's a damn good reason Republicans in Congress are harming their own careers to protect Trump, and I'd bet for SOME of them, it's the Epstein list.
