Real ID is available to temporary legal residents. It doesn't prove US citizenship at all, or legal status beyond the day the ID was created (you had to be legal to get one, but that legal status could have expired between then and now.) Global Entry/NEXUS and US Passport Cards do.
Toxic (@toxic.sf.ca.us) reply parent
Or that states unify Drivers License standards and the documents required to obtain one. "Papers Please" has been a republican wet dream for a long time (though a national ID was something GOP used to claim was tyrannical) Citizens being required to prove citizenship on demand is absolutely coming
Toxic (@toxic.sf.ca.us)
My complaint about a California gerrymander is that it is only for 5 seats. If Texas is openly rigging the system to try to add 5 GOP seats, CA should be trying to add 7 Democratic seats. Don't just fight fire with fire, scorch every piece of Earth that the GOP thinks is theirs. Fuck those guys.
Toxic (@toxic.sf.ca.us) reply parent
CA is asking the voters because it has to. A 2008 ballot initiative put redistricting in the hands of a non-partisan group who can't/won't gerrymander. A new initiative can overturn that. TX put that power in the legislature, which is why a state that's only 60% red can send so many idiots to DC.

Live sports is the only remaining "appointment television" left, so it tracks that the legacy networks like NBC would find their way back. The only moat they still have is the broadcast towers/cable deals for live distribution. Everything else is streamed, ideally with commercials deleted.

Every good thing that Gen-X built on the internet and then entrusted to those who came after us is being sold to public conglomerates to enshittify. MLB is a cartel, but they were a good shepherd of MLB.tv, and were willing to put in the R&D and a few years of loss to pull it off. It's a shame.
