The winds are shifting, there’s no doubt. Soon support for Trump will be viewed in the same way support for Hitler was in the end. Hard-core MAGA will take their hatefulness back underground, and more casual Trump supporters will twist themselves in knots denying it, or trying to rationalize.
There really is an endless array of legit reasons to impeach. Which makes the fact that it isn’t happening yet all the more maddening.

RFK jr, a man with a laundry list of behavioral problems is running the HHS (including the CDC, NIH, FDA, CMS). Agreed. There are various reasons why someone would go and shoot up a place. Lots of root causes that we could analyze all day. And you’re right, the reason why they can is as simple as easy access to guns. The one part the right flat-out refuses to talk about, is the core of the whole problem.

I completely agree. I am angry every day now, and definitely hate him. I live for the day when he is impeached, investigated, and imprisoned. I have a close relative who is having major health problems because she’s so worried about what he’s doing to our country. He’s ruining good people’s lives.

I think it's not just that things are terrible right now but that political elites and establishment media are not being honest about the situation. Given that quietism, simply telling the truth about what is going on is a vital first step. Needed reforms won't happen without first taking stock.

I feel that. I had many friends in the industry who left the field or retired, during or after Covid, and I changed careers myself a few years afterward. It burned out a lot of good people, what an awful time. Many employers handled it really poorly as well, like you mention.

I don’t think there’s really any separation at all anymore. The current group of Republicans ARE far right, are MAGA. They bear little resemblance to the Republican Party which existed when I was growing up, and got rid of the few who resisted. They’re all in on Trump’s vision of America.

Yesss. In my own school experience, I witnessed kids being picked on horribly, day after day, usually with teachers and staff only making half-hearted attempts to stop it. I can’t imagine. We definitely need to take it more seriously. There’s no place for it, in schools or in the workplace.
I was pretty lucky, I was on the smaller side and a little nerdy, but I was only picked on seriously one time that I can remember, in 7th grade. And it was so traumatic that I still think about it sometimes, even have nightmares about it, 35+ years later. We have to recognize how serious this is.
Yep. The original school shooting, basically—Columbine—was two guys who were relentlessly picked on, outcast. Not that it justifies shooting up a place, but we’ve got to recognize in society that this is immensely damaging to people, and can have epic consequences. Do everything we can to stop it.
I wonder if they grasp at all how utterly on the wrong side of history they are, or if they’re so arrogant or clueless they don’t get it. I tend to think many of them get it on some level, and are increasingly stressed about it, and that gives me some tiny bit of comfort.
This is a great description of what happens to me daily now. It’s not that I’m surprised (not usually, anyway), but I still go through sort of a shock, trauma reaction to reading about the worst of what he’s doing. And it’s definitely taking a toll.
People getting attacked in general is a problem on here. It’s happened to me a number of times already, and I’m pretty new…and usually over really mild posts. And I usually have the same reaction—log off in disgust and find something else to do. It’s definitely bad for the Bluesky community.
I ran across those numbers a couple days ago, and had to look it up to make sure it was accurate. I was floored. For Texas to be such a solidly red state politically (and about to get worse), with a significant Democrat majority people-wise…it’s simply criminal.
It’s so crazy to me that the EPA is now pro-business and anti-environment, Kennedy is canceling vaccines and cancer research, the DOJ is going after political opponents, official government websites and accounts are putting out lies…I never would have thought this was possible in America.
