He does but my suspicion (colour me cynical, if you like) is that’s not because of a genuine ‘no, this really is beyond the pale’ feeling but because he needs to keep his party outwardly respectable in order to attract votes. Once he’s actually in power, that constraint is largely removed.

Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".

This is really key, isn't it? We badly need all-embracing words for politely addressing people (like Sir or Madam, but applicable to everyone) and a word for older children where son or daughter isn't appropriate but they're too big to be called child anymore. 'Offspring' sounds ridiculous!
