Should local buses be free (or very cheap)? I'm in two minds - I don't want to encourage bus riding for journeys that can be easily walked, especially if it congests the bus, but then a lot of buses are more than half-empty (e.g. in Newport) where free riding does little harm.

I may be hated at for this - I don't think NHS parking should be free, especially for hospitals near towns/cities. It is very difficult to ensure the parking is actually used for users of the hospital.

Why is there no Apple Store in Oxford, but there is one in Cambridge? Surely Oxonians have as much need of Apple kit, or repairs, as Cantabrigians? (I know my own nearest is in Cardiff, and the last time I needed the services of an Apple store it was at Covent Garden.)

Heh, I was too busy going home from London, and my suitcase wouldn't have been allowed even though in theory I could have used my rail ticket from London Terminals to Newport Gwent to get there (indeed from City Thameslink, which would have saved me a Farringdon to Paddington fare).

Agreed, few live next door to schools (actually at least one school in Newport didn't have its road reduced to 20 mph, and the private school in Monmouth actually still has a main road remaining at 50 mph). It's houses where the lower limits really matter.

I saw this on the less good app. At best the NEC is 5 tph intercity (not counting commuter). The WCML is *9 tph* intercity, and this is one of only five intercity lines out of London (the GWML is 8 tph, the MML and ECML seem to be 6 tph, and the GEML is 2 tph).

I'm glad of my bus. It doesn't get me to work (unless I go to town or at least Tesco and out again) but does get me to town (actually quite frequently except evenings and Sundays).
