This whole thread is a bunch of people fellatiating each other and validating an idea predicated on gross misunderstanding of a topic. When information is incorrect you should say so. How people react to that is usually more about them than the information itself.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s really not my problem that two or three people are talking out of their asses on a topic. They’re opinion based in ignorance shouldn’t be treated equally to people who are more educated on a topic. It’s not about them. They’re confident morons. Its about presenting better info for others.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
The original example I used is, this is pretty much just the pharmaceutical industry before they passed laws that said you couldnt release products without reporting your data first, and having a review for approval of your product. You understand

Hence why I said it’s a long way off.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Basically, anyone who actually takes the time to read about the foundations of what goes into an AI understands, it’s already everywhere, it’s not going away, but what guys like Musk are doing with it is irresponsible, stupid, and overall a waste of time, resources and potential.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
… but people forget that ChatGPT is an AI in the same way that most things that run on machine learning are, but ultimately one is useful and one is a fad, yea. That doesn’t mean the technology as a whole is a fad, or should go away, just how we use it and think of it needs to shift
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s literally my point. The perception of AI being a fad is predicated directly on people jumping to things like ChatGPT and in that regard I agree, it is. I also feel that that is what most people believe because that’s what rich people want it to be, to mine data, to make more money….
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Also I think your kindve not realizing that yes, end of the day a lot of very wealthy people are very good at what effectively is marketing for a broken two party system. We still vote, it used to still matter, Americans are just super easy to influence on large scales. We’re big on “team sports”
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s not a big secret man. How a nation is designed to function vs how it’s functioning are different. We were more so discussing the current situation less literally and more “in terms of legality, this is what legitimizes that legality and this is what makes it worth casting aside”

I mean I’m no genius for sure, but being ignorant on a topic isn’t the issue. Being condescending and wrong, that’s an issue. He lost the moment he started posting links to finance sites, and just saying no instead of trying to articulate what he felt he was so right on
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
He was hostile from the moment he was corrected 🤷🏽♂️ I blocked him the moment he wouldn’t get back on topic, because he knew he was wrong and I don’t have the energy to divert to someone that belligerently stupid
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Not when they’ve already been implemented in literally every aspect of your life. Machine learning is prevalent. Advanced AIs like ChatGPT? 100% agree but the whole technology group? No, it’s too useful and humans don’t toss useful tools. We just improve them. It just wont be the US
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
See now that’s a fair arguement as to why it wouldn’t persist in some form at least until we figure out how to mine asteroids and that’s a LONG way off. I agree, it can’t continue in its current form and crypto is literally reinventing the wheel and then using it to scam people lol

… not only is that disgustingly true, but it’s a big reason Palestine is experiencing a genocide. These liberals only took a stand when it involved not voting for a candidate that may have meant better, but not good still for your people and I’m sorry. I’m sorry my country has helped do this.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent

watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Right, it’s two entirely seperate points and trying to say the bubble we are in now means AI is a fad, is like saying the internet was a fad because of the .com bubble. People who think this is just gonna go away need to STFU and move aside, and let people take the time to regulate it properly
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
You looked through my actual profile and tried to bait me on a completely other topic, stfu 😂 You were wrong, you tried to compensate for your lack of knowledge on a thing rather than argue for yourself, you were dismissive, you tried to back track, I didn’t let you. Your a moron. Go read.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Your tone, combined with your lack of knowledge and critical reading skills once again, makes you the worst type of moron. Go do some reading, then come back. From the jump you were condescending. The original point was it was a fad. That was what my comment responded to. You defended that
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
It is the topic of discussion, you just don’t know what the hell your talking about and are trying to compensate your lack of knowledge with a bunch of random links that agree with a point you don’t even seem to understand. Not worth my time anymore, your the worst kind of moron. Belligerently wrong
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Buddy, I really don’t give a shit about what fortune has to say about the usefulness of a technology because they’re only focused on profitability like you. Of course you find that valid. watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
The longevity of a technology isn’t directly attached to profitability. It’s also attached to usefulness. Your one source is not infinitely better if you are just flat wrong about a thing. Your original point was that AI is a fad. You are disgustingly incorrect
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
And your wayyyy behind if you think social media is running on basic algorithmic code. It’s been a machine learning system for decades, which weather you want to acknowledge it or not, are a form of AI.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
No no, your drawing lines where they don’t exist. Machine learning is a form of AI, it’s just not Artifical Intelligence in a way you yourself would define it. Machine learning has always been AI. You’re wrong, you just are gonna fight to the bitter end
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Even ignoring all that, let’s assume he’s right and those are floundering, he acts like this isn’t a pervasive technology the world over EVERYONE is developing, because it’s a tool and utilizing it effectively, in the right ways, is revolutionary. Currently though? A lot of bad
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Well to be fair to him that’s not entirely false. It is doing both those things, dependent on who is developing it and what for. People seem to forget the algorithms that literally drive social media and engagement are an AI system. We utilize it constantly just its being refined for unpopular ends
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks man 👊 people forget, we all have seperate algorithms trying to actively distract us. No ones is exactly the same. We have to share things, constantly, to stay ahead in the information.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Your unclear why the distinction is relevant because you clearly haven’t read about the applications for AI beyond the things they’re utilized for now. It’s literally like they picked all the worst things for it and said “let’s do all that”. There are applicable uses. That isn’t a debate
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
And this conversation is honestly over because I don’t really know how to continue discussing a topic with someone who, doesn’t really seem that knowledgeable on it if this is your view 🤷🏽♂️ You sound like the people that said cell phones were a fad, or the internet.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
It has no customers because the way they are trying to utilize it is immoral and it’s put a negative taste in people’s mouths, if it’s controlled solely by the wealthy. AI is a tool, the people who are using those tools and developing them are just bad people
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
You believe this and view it this way is literally a direct result of these rich dipshits who have turned it mainly into “let’s make a fun thing for rich people” or “let’s make it drive engagement for social media so we can sell people’s data”. It’s useful in the right hands, like the internet
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
The other things you listed had truly no market outside of rich losers with no friends. The only reason you feel this way is because again, it’s being developed by the wrong people. There are practical, real world uses for AI. It’s used in literally so many things already

It’s never going away. Everyone needs to stop acting like it’s a fad or something and just push for clear regulation and limitations. What Musk did was the equivalent of releasing vaccines before human trials, knowing people will die and saying “we’ll use the data to make it better”. Tech isn’t…

And I mean a whole plan for governance. If it was up to me, we would build a new constitution using the old one as a guide line, trying to preserve the original national identity but making it healthy. Right now it’s toxic, and ugly, and has led to the death of millions for 200 years
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
I think hoping for Dems to wake up is a ship that sailed 20+ years ago. Liberals need to build a progressive force (not a party) and just undercut the Dems entirely. We need leaders, and a power structure for when this one collapses because we are full speed running at that
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Don’t let the Trump admin see, they’ll drain it, bulldoze it, and put up a concentration camp they’ll have to take down within a few months of building it
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
The concern I currently have, is the lack of alternative. This, inevitably, will result in revolution, the scale and level of violence is ultimately going to depend on how they try to wrangle control from the public the angrier we are. It’ll collapse. Dems are no where near prepared to govern after
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Truly the way I see this going, is they’re going to keep pushing to be more violent and aggressive. They want military in major cities. It’ll be deeply unpopular for all but about 30-40% of the American public, and within that 30-40, about half aren’t going to want to die for him, for sure.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
If you use a slur you deserve to be called out. Context of that slur is extremely important in a time period where we’ve backslid so far. I’ll accept Kulinski saying the R word one time, if it means it helps stop fascists from going “let’s round up all the r words”. Is that fair?
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
You can point it out, but are we about to pretend that a big part of why the country is where it is, is directly a result of liberals having a bad habit of casting people out and infighting (like this) over things that in the wider world end up not mattering long term because we keep losing
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe a better example would be the Gaza genocide. A lot of people didn’t vote Harris because of their “morals” but clearly that was a bad call because now it’s worse. Sometimes you have to swallow what you believe is right to make a decision that gets us closer to ok or we just keep backsliding
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Absolutely it is, but when literally hundreds of people have already pointed a thing out, and once again there are people that actually hate people like me and think they’re useless, why continue? Why expend energy? Save it for people who need their teeth kicked in for saying it.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Literally save it for the literal fascists. I don’t get how much clearer I can be here. Do you guys have this same energy when the fascists say vile shit constantly? Go hammer people that actually hate the neurodivergent. Do something useful and productive, not just what makes you feel nice
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
I got a brother who didn’t get help, whose now in the system for life exactly because of what your talking about. You think I’m not emotional or pissed off when I hear the R word? You are entirely missing my point. If you hammer people trying to help for making a mistake, long term that’s worse
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
I am literally on the spectrum. My best friend is too. Pushback is one thing, it’s good to point out when someone does something wrong, but your not helping your son by weakening the base of people actively doing things to try to help protect him. Period.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly. Yea it’s all about perception, the American people now perceive a clear threat. Sucks it had to get here but that’s what happens when you have an undereducated population
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
I did answer the question. You’re actively choosing not to acknowledge the fact this is a literal war. Your pretending it’s 20 years ago where this was the main battle. This is a distraction from much larger issues. Obviously the answers yes 🙄 you guys just don’t see the bigger picture
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
I feel like you guys are completely misconstruing what I’m saying. I’m also autistic. I also hate that word, and I find it offensive but the point I’m trying to make is this is someone who regularly is on our side and has taken definitive actions to fight. The sudden flip on him weakens us.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Look my dude, if he was regularly spouting it off or used it derogatory towards an actual neurodivergent person I’d agree. This is a war against literal Nazis. Picking battles is important and this isn’t one
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes but when someone who has a long history of doing actual fighting for that group, you don’t get a pass but your allowed to make a mistake. Then it becomes a purity test. The very fact your framing this as “defending dignity” makes it a purity test in this context
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
And are we smart people? Honestly? Liberals have been shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly, it’s why we’re here, over stupid purity debates like this. Kulinskis been a critic of all this longer than some of us. Why divide the base over one comment beyond stupid purity tests? It’s why were here
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Not the point. The point I’m making is, you can do both but getting ugly occasionally is necessary. Im part of the neurodivergent community. I’m not saying it gets a pass, I’m saying this isn’t actually hurting anyone who hasn’t earned it so people need to chill and deal with bigger problems
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
And before anyone gets any cute ideas that’s not an excuse to just accept objectionable legislation from the past when the majority of people can recognize that it is incorrect or harmful, like in the case of slavery. The rhetoric on the right lately is disturbing, not just objectionable
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
Right. Your exactly right. There is a big difference between “I don’t agree with these policies and they hurt people but the majority of the country has decided this makes sense.” And “The existing power structure was barely voted in, and largely is harming most people and changing laws”
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s been functional until Trump, people are just generally under educated. Now could you make the arguement that an undereducated populace makes a democracy non-functional? Yea I suppose, but ultimately that’s the default of civilization, not education.
watcher97.bsky.social (@watcher97.bsky.social) reply parent
And as far as realizing it all in 2020 I agree, but again most of his first term to the average person that’s not tuned in, just said “oh that’s just bad policy, not fascism” because until the insurrection itself, it wasn’t in your face enough. Americans are self centered 🤷🏽♂️
