This is Ballyvaughan bay in the Burren.
While it created food for the basking sharks & the whales it is allso a sign of our ocean warming up. It’s a new sight for us to see so much colour and for it to last so long, we sometimes can see the basking sharks from the cliffs.
That was the colour of the water off the west coast of Ireland in May when the weather was very warm. It’s called Phytoplankton Growth: The green color comes from the chlorophyll in phytoplankton. I’m not a scientist but this is it.
Was this video really done in the winter. The green colour in the water is an indication of heat, which grows a plant like organisms and reflects in the light. I don’t like to see this in the winter beautiful and all as it is. Great shot.
