In the latest documentary about a Pompeii dig, they were able to get at least a general idea of Roman furniture by using the same plaster in void technique used on human remains' cavities in the ash and it was pretty neat.

The right answer depends on what your contract says. I know for the academic side, I've seen contracts have the copyright go to the publisher, but in turn, publisher agrees to enforce it on behalf of itself and the author.

The cost did seem justifiable, between the staffing and the tech, but having it thrown in my face as blatant advertising of something I can't do, over and over, it was ugh! In a small degree, it's like having to walk through first class to get to your cramped uncomfortable seat on a long plane ride.
This is also my biggest hang up with Galaxy’s Edge and the Starcruiser (rip): they shoved the unaffordable things into the stuff I could afford, constantly reminding me of this disparity.

We have at least one in our possession, a cousin who died hundreds of miles away, so the rest of the family couldn't be there for the visitation/funeral. So someone took a photo and sent it so everyone had that last image to remember him by.

It's not really ironic, it's a long standing intentional reference to governmental power. The viewer is intended to see them and recognize this individual held some sort of position of authority. This is also why they decorate the congressional chambers, a symbol of Congress' authority.
