The deviousness of consumerism… Bezos now has captive consumers, buying HIS products and services, by making people think they’re getting - and giving - “free” perks. And the corporate network has captured thousands, or millions, of consumers for Bezos. But don’t get me wrong: you ARE getting a

The learning most men get is from their fathers. It’s why so many boys follow in their father’s footsteps, & why the infrastructure of emotional learning *during school* is so closely controlled, typically by the men, banning books, controlling curriculum all to control the culture of the community.

It’s like grieving a lost friend, who has gone into an alternate imagined reality. I’ve learned that I cannot change another person’s mind. The most difficult part of the Serenity Prayer for me is “the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.” I’ve learned to just get on with my own life.

They both know that the American’s are stupid enough to pay the staggeringly dishonest taxes. That’s all they need. BUT, if enough Americans decide that the “special” doll for their granddaughter is NOT worth an extra 25-50% tax to the U.S. government, the economy will collapse and THEY WILL LOSE.

I’m not so sure about the science part. On one hand, I try to upload observations every day to iNaturalist. On the other hand, in “The Society for Useful Knowledge” I learned that Enlightenment science was geared toward exploiting Nature to benefit society. If it wasn’t useful, it was discarded.

Book Cover: The Society for Useful Knowledge: How Benjamin Franklin and Friends Brought the Enlightenment to America By Jonathan Lyons From Booklist: [review] While the colonies were securing political separation from England, a group of Americans were instrumental in establishing American intellectual and scientific freedom from European tradition and in developing a vibrant and distinctly practical culture for the new nation. The leading proponents of this independence were the remarkable Benjamin Franklin and his associates (the Junto), including botanist John Bartram, astronomer David Rittenhouse, physician Benjamin Rush, and industrial visionary Tench Coxe. In this highly readable account of the societies (the title one, later the American Philosophical Society, being the prototype), academies, mechanics’ associations, and other social institutions the group engendered that believed science and experimentation to be collective endeavors, Lyons illuminates a formative period in American cultural history, the theme being that “the value of learning and knowledge . . . is directly proportional to its practical import and utility.” While this emphasis originated with early colonists’ need to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, Lyons’ focus on Franklin and Quaker Philadelphia is apt, though he rightly credits an English precedent with the Royal Society. The book will be compared to Louis Menand’s The Metaphysical Club (2001), which covered a comparably germinal group a century later. --Mark Levine

When it starts “for real” remember to tell everyone to aim for the mask.

I remember he got booed for saying it at one of his rallies! Too bad he’s wishy-washy on stuff he can’t understand.

You’re preaching to the choir, here. This needs to be put in front of the Republican voters, like on FOX NEWS!Most of them do not agree with this behavior! And if they complain about it just being more Hate against Trump, just remind them that he reaps what he sows!!!

My acre is surrounded by 100’s of acres of crop land. In 20 years, I’ve planted 50 trees on this 1 acre, which is now an oasis of Nature in the farmland. All of Ohio was rich, wooded forests only 250 years ago, now just a forgotten memory. There have been no beavers in “Beaver Creek” ever since.

I think you did a GREAT job of telling it like it is in the Old Testament. After reading this contemporary translation, in which you actually do not have a speaking role, I am convinced that “REALITY” will always win.

Who would believe ANYTHING coming from this [***] regime. [***] - there are no appropriate words to insert here that properly describe the incompetence, idiocy, destructiveness, corruption, etc., etc. of this regime.

There are at least 50 other senators who have their heads in Trump’s ass, and didn’t even need to hear from Kennedy to know that he was the PERFECT idiot to incompetently serve in the position.

We don’t need to turn the Fed over. We just need to STOP giving our money to the corporate interests that prop up his regime. Stop buying the imported stuff he’s taxed, expecting to raise revenue from it. Why should we give our money to his regime? #ShutItDown

I hate AI because it’s the OPPOSITE of Nature. It’s a little bit of information, stored in a hot, noisy, energy-burning warehouse the size of Texas. Nature stores eons of information in a tiny little egg. Excellent report, @imogenwk.bsky.social !

“America’s Game” is not baseball. It’s fleecing fans, consumers, & citizens of all they have, funneling it to the few, all the while subtly encouraging & praising them for supporting their team, their city, their country, with NO reciprocal loyalty. Consumerism at its finest. The American Dream.
