In July 2023, a year before the last GE, I explained exactly why Labour looked set to be a one-term disaster. Everything I've seen from them since they came to power has only cemented that assessment. (I hadn't expected them to SPRINT towards Reform. That surprised me.) medium.com/@edwinhaywar...

The problem isn’t refugees on boats. The problem is oligarchs hoarding obscene amounts of wealth while most people fight to stay afloat. Wages aren't tied to inflation, so the working class keeps falling behind no matter how hard they work.

The Vikings have returned!!! 🏺 Had the pleasure of seeing this absolutely stunning reconstruction of a Viking long ship today in London. I know next to nothing about the vikings and their ships but it certainly looked like an excellent example of reconstruction and experimental archaeology

View of the longship from the front, showing the prow and hull. The wooden planks are nailed in an overlapping manner, then covered in tar to waterproof, giving the wood a darker brown colour. Close up of one of the timbers for the sails, resting on a shaped bit of wood. Lots of rope tied around it. Close up of a carved beast seemingly biting into a wooden pole. This was part of the steering mechanism.

I grew up in Grimsby , so pleased they never left Blundel park for the out of town ground that was talked about a few years ago. I now live in Shrewsbury , the old gay meadow , was a another fun old ground the new stadium is sterile in comparison.

I've spent the last three years researching Grimsby Town FC for my PhD. So in the wake of last night, I wanted to write a piece on what makes #GTFC such a special club, and what Manchester United can learn from the supposed "little fish" of English football. joshbland.substack.com/p/the-real-b...

This is terrifying & I have no idea how to make it salient to people who don't already follow climate news.

This is not good news. We can't wait for a convenient moment before taking climate action. The time is now. "the tipping point that makes an Amoc shutdown inevitable is likely to be passed within a few decades" www.theguardian.com/environment/...

😒That's not a good look. Worse, it's a conflict of interest. Thames Water is in crisis. Why would the Chancellor of the Exchequer appoint someone from a firm who lobbies on their behalf? Private firms should be nowhere near Thames Water. If you agree sign our petition:✍️ vist.ly/44qa5
