Ever since that Putin meeting.
He was probably drunk, he was probably doing something inappropriate with that lady, and whoever rammed into him probably had a valid reason.
But there was no way to open the schools. You can’t force teachers to go into such an unsafe environment. Even after the vaccine employees were out like crazy. We had 15 absences out of 25 more than once. There were times driving home I was convinced we would just have to close the school.

All along I have said the big red flag will be when teenagers start in with the racial and to a lesser extent political terrorism. So far I haven’t seen it in the MAGA movement in my direct experience, but this is it.

I don't agree that it's unwise. It's more of a matter of strategy. Every year is different and trying to understand what voters want in any given year is a different consideration than whether a woman or person of color is more qualified or should be there.
I think the argument is that in our misogynistic society, we have a better chance of winning by running a man.
We avoided getting COVID for over a year and schools ended the mask mandate a month before kids could get the vaccine and we all got COVID. The school year was about over. We could have waited till the next fall.

I think it's ineffective to tell people crime if down bc they believe what they want. My approach would be "We know how to lower crime, by addressing the root causes. Drugs, poverty etc. We need to be proactive & help people before they get in that situation rather than wait and fill our prisons.

People are rightly outraged that Trump is using emergency powers to enter his agenda. But we supported the extending emergency measures of enhanced ACA subsides, Child tax credit, student loan relief long after the COVID crisis was over.

Idk. I'm being nitpicky here. But rhetorically, I'd prefer we argue against the tactics and the falseness of the pretence without diminishing the leading cause of early death in the country.
I'm interested in the underlying message. What is the thrust? What are they trying to say? To get the goods from great artists, I have to be willing to wade through the muck they have set out in front of me. I've been mucking my whole life.
Style versus substance. If someone uses offensive language or stereotypes to convey a message that challenges those constructs, then I would applaud that. Conversely, if the language and content is clean as a whistle but it reinforces persecution or obeyance to despotism, that would be less good.

Not to disagree with your point, but I have an 8-year-old boy so I've sort of been in that bubble for a while. And I'll say, children's books are one of the most vibrant aspects of our culture. There are a ton of cool children's books out there. No stagnation there.

We don't use it to celebrate labor. We go with our families and have a picnic and smile and laugh and love each other. That's what average folks care about and need. Something a lot of political people don't seem to understand. Politics, war, labor movements are just a means to that end.
I was a foreign exchange student in high school and toured that region. When I heard about that story I thought it was such a great way to undermine authority. And I've used it many times. Bullies are so thin-skinned, they never miss a slight.

Yeah, but a lot of people with advanced degrees came from privileged positions in life and were handed high playing careers. We've learned the lesson- here in the states- that for many people, learning a trade would have paid them better and made them happier.
When I was in high school we used to scrimmage the car wash soccer team, also in LA area. They were probably all undocumented but we didn't even think about that. They were great players, very kind and supportive. They really sharpened us up and made us tough.

When I quit it was because I was in a popular band and was making enough money to quit. I wrote this glowing letter about how much I appreciated all the wonderful people and then strongly implied; except for him.

I think it's funny that everybody has forgotten when Powell performed a minor miracle raising rates and squashing inflation and runaway housing markets without causing a recession. Trump was on the record criticizing his every move during this process. Powell has far more credibility here.

Yeah. I think Unitarianism is a good effort at this project. Imo, the historical success of Christianity is due to it's ability to adapt to changing times and different groups of people. If we keep it, it's past time for an update to reflect modern sensibilities.
