If Obama or Biden had said this, it would be rightfully understood as them arrogating dictatorial authority to themselves, it would be the only thing anyone in the media or opposition would talk about for a year, and it would probably end their presidency. For Trump, it’s literally just Tuesday.

One of the more notable things about our present political moment is that former Republicans like Joe Walsh or the folks at the Bulwark have a more clear eyed understanding of political strategy than a significant number of long-time, moderate Democrats.
Major media seem flummoxed about what to do when Trump shares a fake video of Obama getting arrested. Maybe they think the options are A) take the bait, or B) ignore it. But there's a 3rd option: Gather all the crazy examples and write big, loud stories about how the president is mentally unhinged.
People exploding this false messaging that I voted for a bill + funding that I quite literally voted NO on. The threat environment this morning is scary. Doesn’t help anyone. Drag me for the position if you disagree but don’t lie. It’s out of control. Saying I voted for this funding is false.

Opponents of lectures as a teaching modality cast them as “passive learning”. But lectures aren’t a boring movie you half-watch with your phone out. And anyone claiming they are is ignoring the fact that students are responsible for how they choose to engage with the lecture and lecturer.

It’s good to be home, but I’m beginning to think I should have stayed in Britain. The weather is actually worse here!
Having just been at a very large and major conference, I have to say I saw some good moderating/chairing. Introductions were very short, speakers kept mostly to time, and questions were mostly kind and productive.
Decades of mechanistic talk about university degrees as if they were bundles of 'skills' and 'prep' are about to be proved completely wrong (obviously). Want to get a real boost? Do History or English.
I enjoyed Josh’s paper at Leeds, and he deserves an extra gold medal for giving it in the wee hours of the morning in his local time zone!
Same here! The flight was actually pretty good. The dive home afterward was easy if a bit long. In bed before 1am, so I’ll take it!
In the end, it all worked! Made a train, if not the train I had booked, and another. Got to the gate with time to spare and was fairly impressed with my first Virgin Atlantic flight. Not quite home yet. But very nearly!
Not for the first time, my plans for getting home from the IMC have been imperiled by train cancellations and delays.
