I suspect that the Republicans are well aware that map-redrawing like this -- regardless of who does it -- just convinces more people that voting is pointless in a thoroughly rigged system. And that works to their advantage too.

Our country embraces "price to value" capitalism, and most people put a high value of avoiding pain and death. So this is not surprise. Smart young people enter medicine for the same reason bank robbers enter banks.
Sorry to say it, but I think there's at least a 50/50 chance that the people of Iowa will elect someone worse. Iowa voters see what's happening to them -- but still just can't quite believe they really DO have a share in the responsibility for making it happen.
