mRNA vaccines were not "new" or "patched together in a hurry for COVID-19". They were something long in development that, luckily, was maturing a little before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Developers pivoted to to help out. mRNA vaccines have promise for tackling many other diseases, and cancers.

I'm registered independent, but Maryland doesn't allow voting in the primaries. My wife asked me to register Democrat to vote in the primary. After that I switched right back to independent.
