Sometimes I wonder if the beautiful weather of late August and early September (in Northern VA at least) has blunted our senses to our country’s dependence into shithole status. I mean, it’s gorgeous outside, life is good, right? It may take the dark, gloomy days of winter to drive the point home.

Many of us in the US agree
Agree they want it to get violent so badly. And der fuerher keeps poking the bear hoping this will be the time. At some point it will happen, restraint vanishes. Last straw on the camel’s back. What happens next, I'm not sure.
I get a lot of libs who dismiss me out of hand, saying it's just the opportunity the right wants. Not a totally unfounded concern. But we're already living under fascism. We first have to defeat and demolish that. But we have to recognize the fundamental flaws that remain, and fix them.
On one side of the “left” are people still relitigating 2016, saying it’s “all Bernie’s fault.” On the other are strident purists who don't understand that their theory of change will never happen when our coalition is powerless. Even now, out of power, they won’t unite against a common enemy.
Sadly, this is where we are. The Constitution was brilliant in its time. But its loopholes have long been exposed and now its guardrails removed. It is outmoded for the soon-to-be mid-21st century. When we get through this horrible time - and we will - we will need to start over.

Players are tightly cloistered during tournaments - whisked from their hotel to training/matches, then back to the hotel. They don't get much rec/tourism time and when they do it’s as a team. So they are probably not in much danger. But the traveling fans who come to see them are certainly at risk.
