But if we actually want to win so we can reform cops, and ICE, etc, you have to find a path forward in suburbia, where everyone is married to a cop, or brother is a cop, or son, or somebody they know. And where the middle aged men who aren't cops wish that they had been cops.
As a person who lives in a city and works in a suburb, the view of police is so different between the two. In the suburbs, people are orgasmic over the police. But even in the city, a lot of folks see cops as protectors. I don't like it, but we got to face reality.
Maybe having a slogan that can mean many things to many people is better? I mean, what percentage of the American population actually is going to hear "defund the police" and think, "awesome, I'm getting behind that." What percentage is saying, "that sounds crazy, I don't want to do that."
It's a shitty slogan because it forces people to talk about slogan rather than about how to actually address the problem. It becomes about who is willing to commit political harakiri by using the phrase instead of actually trying to solve the problem, and thus reinforces the problem

422--MARVIN GAYE: LET'S GET IT ON (1973) Jesus, Marvin Gaye was horny for this one. LGIO is a great song, and then there are a lot of songs that sound like LGIO that are not as good, like "Keep Getting it On", and then a couple clunkers 6 out of 10

423--YO LA TANGO: I CAN HEAR THE HEART BEATING AS ONE (1997) This has great moments, but definitely overstays its welcome as a not quite double album, ending with some unimpressive noise tracks at the end. At their best, YLT combines the best elements of Sonic Youth the Jesus and Mary Chain,
424--BECK: ODELAY (1996) Just a great mid 90s album. Great mix of genres/sounds and so doesn't overstay its welcome. 8 out of 10
425--PAUL SIMON: PAUL SIMON (1972) Mother and Child Reunion, which is a great song, and Me and Julio, which is a good song, don't make up for the rest of the album, which is subpar. 5 out of 10
