2/2 I’m not glad he was murdered and I don’t condone violence of any kind. But to act like Kirk was just any conservative figure and not give any context about how deeply hateful he was is just dishonest. The Times knows better.

For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country… Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year. And America shrugged and moved on.

I read an article at the time that said some constitutional scholars said Obama should appoint anyway. Give the Senate a deadline to advise and consent, and if they don’t, appoint. It would have gone to court but at least it would have been something, and might have favored Dems.

Shreveport, LA, the largest city in Speaker Mike Johnson's district, has a murder rate more than twice Chicago's, and a crime rate considerably higher than both the state and national average. And Johnson isn't calling for the military to invade it. One of many ways we know this isn't about crime.
