Yeah, its been normal for local law enforcement to all have rifle training and keep a rifle in their car, typically for active shooters or felony arrests where multiple armed aggressors are likely to be present. ICE is the same, except they carry those weapons on the border and now in our streets.

My point is that politics is not an all-or-nothing strategy. Certainly everyone has their key issues. But I think if you have a candidate who is 95 percent what you want and you toss them out because they don't have that five percent, you're missing out on a lot of possible wins.
This is where I think a Pritzker will come in handy as he doesn't need DNC backing. However, I think we need to replace the leaders of the DNC by making it clear that the direction they want is NOT what the majority of the party wants. And we need to convince the donors of that, too.

I do not live in NYC, but out in the Valley. But historically, I feel like the mayor of NYC has a lot more independence than, say, the President. Mamdani has to deal with 51 city council members, 46 of which are Democrats. So he will have a considerable party majority.
