Yes. It was necessary, it was the right thing to do, it 100% should have happened, but also it’s good for kids to leave the house and interact with other kids, and parents need to be able to work. It doesn’t make you someone who hates your kids to recognize those things.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, the reason such a deal was possible was because RFK’s antivax bullshit attracted enough of a following to allow him to control a few electoral points.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
Never been to New Orleans, eh Ken?
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
The truth is that dealing with a pandemic sucks and a lot of people want to rewrite history such that people (like teachers) 50+ could have gone back to work comfortably before a vaccine existed.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s also notable that he says he knows people whose politics changed because of it. This sounds like he talked to 2 or 3 constituents who claimed they switched parties because of the Covid response so he decided to go along with the R narrative.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
😂 That is an actually a great idea.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social)
The idea that if RFK just had the chance to look at the data he might change his mind on vaccines is hilariously childlike, but it’s the first sign of hope.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
And there have been many published studies about it. The data on their success is no secret.
Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
It is kind of hilariously childlike, or would be if he wasn’t the president, that he seems to think if RFK just looked at the data he’d see that the vaccines are good. YOU APPOINTED HIM BECAUSE HE HATES VACCINES, DUMMY.

RFK is also extremely arrogant. His lack of knowledge is compounded with the absolute certainty that he is correct, thousands of experts are all wrong, and he should have the right to make all the decisions overruling them without input.

Doubtful Guest (@doubtful-guest.bsky.social) reply parent
Agreed, but I feel like the problem is more arrogance than ignorance. You can not know and have respect for the people who do. RFK doesn’t know but is sure he knows better than thousands of people with more knowledge and experience than he has.
