Did the driver really have cause to believe Autopilot would handle situations like this? My take is that the driver was 100% at fault; the jury thought Tesla sold a defective product. I hate to be on Tesla's side but he drove through a flashing red at over 60mph while reaching for his cell phone.

In the 90s we had this concept called "netiquette" in which, when you got an account that let you use email and newsgroups (there was no web), someone would warn you about how hard it is to communicate online, how easy it is to use the wrong tone, etc. Sadly that onboarding effort never scaled.
