Thank you for putting aside partisan politics and advocating for the release of the Epstein files; furthermore, please ensure the victims are fully heard in a place in which they feel wholly safe, both emotionally and physically, that is.

I’m in MA, and cell phone use in schools for now is left to the discretion of each district. My son is at a Catholic school, and they have banned all devices, except their own for instructional use. My eldest feels that watches should be the exception. NY outlawed all devices during school hours.

I LOVE this! As a drummer, some of my most memorable performances were outdoors; however, with neighbors abutting my property on all four sides, an evening practice outdoors on my drums may end with a police visit. Hopefully, you had a b string nearby. For me, it’s about broken sticks and drumheads!

I love this housing model, but we have to acknowledge but not condone that our capitalist society is solely driven by profits, even our public health system is, right? We’re one of the few countries that allows toxic dyes in our foods. Follow the money, if you wonder why we are where we are.

MA resident here, too! I just remarked on this thread about how good a job MA is doing compared to many other states. I know the availability of vaccines could stand some improvements, but at least we’re trying. You’d have to have worms in your brain to oppose COVID vaccines. 🤪

My state of MA is doing the right thing with vaccines. Despite that, COVID is in circulation up here. Thankfully, it hasn’t hit the school at which I teach, but it has hit others, from what I’ve heard. I know we’re going to have to live with this virus, but why can’t we do so responsibly?

You can’t have it both ways. There are immigrant children where I teach in Massachusetts, and I’d never inquire about their legal status. It doesn’t concern me, nor is it relevant. They are sweet kids who culturally enrich us every day that I come to class to teach. Florida is its own worst enemy.

I just began a new career midlife as an elementary school teacher. It’s sad when we are expected to numb ourselves to school shootings, as if we have to normalize them? We discussed lockdown drills in gym class today. WOW. Profits over school safety? Let anyone carry virtually anywhere? GOP=Fail!

This is further evidence that DC is dysfunctional and is leaving it up to the states to do the federal government’s job. Congress is divided and each party fractured.

I’m a newly minted third grade teacher, which is a result of a career change. This doesn’t bode well for us. I’m sure the kids learned about it when they had gotten home to their families last night, and active shooter drills at my schools are upcoming. Jack, I agree with you. My eldest boy is 11.

This evokes thoughts of schools using their IT department staff to replace librarians on account of libraries digitizing themselves to keep up with times. There is a such thing as a digital libraries specialist, and IT people without that training cannot deliver on that front at all.

I’m all about technology in the workplace, but education isn’t one of them, if the application of it is to replace teachers. We need that human element in the classroom, especially for social-emotional learning. AI can’t do that and has proven that time and again.

Don’t be throwing stones in a glass house, Ryan. I’m not saying that CA and NY aren’t without their fair share of issues, but NY, especially, has some great schools and a robust testing system for educator licensure. Your state ranks near the very bottom. What to know why? Look in the mirror, sir.

Larry, I think another factor that we have to consider are the professional demands imposed on many of us. I’m reading extensively every day, while balancing life and family. The technical literature that I read on my own time to keep current in my job is stifling. I’m working arduously to fix it.

There’s nothing more inviting than government-sanctioned kidnapping and human trafficking, right? Forget tourism. Think about the impact on our supply of talent. With the U.S. already suffering talent shortages in multiple economic sectors, who’s going to want to immigrate here and work on a visa?

My theory all along is that ICE was born out of this very practice. This is government-sanctioned vigilantism, so let’s call it for what it actually is.

Reasonable cause doesn’t apply to ICE. Heck, we citizens can’t even verify their identity, so we don’t know who’s real and who’s criminal. They’re one and the same. I don’t advocate protecting violent felons, but ICE needs to be held accountable in their methods, no matter their immigration status.

His sheep that are in power are gerrymandering by way of redistricting, thus, putting up obstacles to our right to vote. Essentially, he’s rigging future elections in order to keep his own party in power. He’s emulating Putin and Xi. What do they all have in common? They’re dictators!

Albeit controversial to some on the left, I’d trust AOC to advocate for the working people and to fight with unprecedented vigor. She doesn’t spew vitriol; rather; she’s eloquent and factual, well-researched and stands her ground. She’s poised and intelligent, as well as energetic and focused.

No union protection or tenure, as well as below-market pay. If possible, bring your talents to a blue state, where you’d be valued, as reflected in your right to union representation, tenure, and fair compensation.

Public education underscores American social stratification. Different zip codes will expose gaps in wealth— well-off communities offer a better quality education. Lesser affluent communities may compete via voucher programs that provide private alternatives at the expense of their public systems.

Civility is part of the key to a happy, productive lifestyle. We can always agree to disagree and to do so with cordiality and humility. Disagreement has always presented me an opportunity for growth and reflection, because it conveys to me that I may be missing something in my own introspection.

I’m a musician but haven’t tested ChatGPT for accuracy in music theory yet; however, I use AI extensively, yet, I tread carefully with it, often double-checking anything that I slightly question or is critical. AI should never substitute for competence, ever! It gets me to think, not think for me.

My parents gave me the gift of music at age four, for which I have always been grateful. Drumming led to arthritis later in life, requiring a hiatus and an eventual return to electronic drums. Electric drums opened up myriad creative possibilities for me. I have gifted music to my kids, too.

I thought about that this morning. Dark, 5:00 am mornings are among my most productive periods of time. Some write, exercise, walk, read, meditate, or, in my case, as a cognitive exercise, I site read music from an app, as I have been for years. There’s a strange but desirable energy at 5:00 am.

I never imagined in my nearly half-century life that I’d live to see this nation become a police/military state. If this continues, I can surely imagine a revolution. Dictators engender resistance, and eventually, it may ensue. I don’t condone violence and disorder, but some could be pushed.

And, if the data don’t comport with your political narrative, disband the DOE, just as the right terminated the BLS chief when abysmal jobs data were released when the effects of the tariffs had really begun to take shape. Instead of taking accountability, just kill off whatever is exposing you? 🤦‍♂️

We really need to maintain proper context in the Trump administration. To qualify for a cabinet position with his administration, you need only meet two criteria— a seven-figure-plus net worth and proof that you worship his mere existence.

Let’s think about this. The vast majority of his voters are blue-collar, who have paid the biggest price (no pun intended) for his tariffs, leading to job loss and wage stagnation for middle class on down. Please name one convicted felon who’s trustworthy. He puts the “ con” in “convicted” felon.

As a veteran HR manager, if you’re hiring people who need someone breathing down their neck, then you’re hiring the wrong people; therefore, it’s time to re-evaluate your organization’s selection criteria to ensure that you’re hiring those with the right traits to work well independently.
