Thank you for putting aside partisan politics and advocating for the release of the Epstein files; furthermore, please ensure the victims are fully heard in a place in which they feel wholly safe, both emotionally and physically, that is.

I’m in MA, and cell phone use in schools for now is left to the discretion of each district. My son is at a Catholic school, and they have banned all devices, except their own for instructional use. My eldest feels that watches should be the exception. NY outlawed all devices during school hours.

I LOVE this! As a drummer, some of my most memorable performances were outdoors; however, with neighbors abutting my property on all four sides, an evening practice outdoors on my drums may end with a police visit. Hopefully, you had a b string nearby. For me, it’s about broken sticks and drumheads!

I love this housing model, but we have to acknowledge but not condone that our capitalist society is solely driven by profits, even our public health system is, right? We’re one of the few countries that allows toxic dyes in our foods. Follow the money, if you wonder why we are where we are.

MA resident here, too! I just remarked on this thread about how good a job MA is doing compared to many other states. I know the availability of vaccines could stand some improvements, but at least we’re trying. You’d have to have worms in your brain to oppose COVID vaccines. 🤪
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
My state of MA is doing the right thing with vaccines. Despite that, COVID is in circulation up here. Thankfully, it hasn’t hit the school at which I teach, but it has hit others, from what I’ve heard. I know we’re going to have to live with this virus, but why can’t we do so responsibly?

Yeah, WW3, if we can’t get you TF out of here! 😩

Omg, I LOVE that little water garden! I have one that my dad, a friend of mine, and I built in my yard about 20 years ago. I’ll soon post a photo to my account. We keep it beautifully landscaped. Thank you for posting this, Eva!

That cobblestone walkway with the beautiful buildings is majestic! Thank you for posting such a ray of sunshine on this sunny, Sunday morning up here in western MA.

You can’t have it both ways. There are immigrant children where I teach in Massachusetts, and I’d never inquire about their legal status. It doesn’t concern me, nor is it relevant. They are sweet kids who culturally enrich us every day that I come to class to teach. Florida is its own worst enemy.
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m right here with you. I’m also trying to find a silver lining in it without necessarily espousing this behavior. My anxiety keeps me alert and sharp, though, but it can also cripple me. I over-analyze a lot. Paralysis by analysis? Maybe! My new therapist has been my savior.

I just began a new career midlife as an elementary school teacher. It’s sad when we are expected to numb ourselves to school shootings, as if we have to normalize them? We discussed lockdown drills in gym class today. WOW. Profits over school safety? Let anyone carry virtually anywhere? GOP=Fail!
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
This is further evidence that DC is dysfunctional and is leaving it up to the states to do the federal government’s job. Congress is divided and each party fractured.

I’m a newly minted third grade teacher, which is a result of a career change. This doesn’t bode well for us. I’m sure the kids learned about it when they had gotten home to their families last night, and active shooter drills at my schools are upcoming. Jack, I agree with you. My eldest boy is 11.
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
This could lift up anyone’s day; we’re long overdue for something positive to be published on social media! Thanks for sharing!
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
As a newly minted elementary school teacher, I wholeheartedly agree. This experience will be eye-opening, especially when/if I have to console students and answer questions when we do active shooter response drills. The building staff had already discussed those protocols in PD earlier this week. 😩

Today, I started my new career; I co-teach third grade with an incredible teacher. I came into this profession after having been an entrepreneur for 25 years. The energy in the entire school was incredible. I’m being treated like family and am loving my 17 students to pieces. I answered my calling.

My e-wife is a school librarian, and this trend is deeply disturbing. Couple it with AI, and I need not say anything further. 😩
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
This evokes thoughts of schools using their IT department staff to replace librarians on account of libraries digitizing themselves to keep up with times. There is a such thing as a digital libraries specialist, and IT people without that training cannot deliver on that front at all.
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m all about technology in the workplace, but education isn’t one of them, if the application of it is to replace teachers. We need that human element in the classroom, especially for social-emotional learning. AI can’t do that and has proven that time and again.
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
I just began my teacher life today as a midlife career-changer. I bought protein bars and barely have time to eat them. I’m peppered with staff emails from the early morning hours. My Chromebook failed three times in two days, leading to a replacement. Thank goodness for my mother for cooking for us
Eric Zanconato (@ericzanconato.bsky.social) reply parent
Why? After 25 years, I just switched careers from construction project management to special education. The pay-cut was enormous as a step one with nearly three master’s degrees. It’s called intrinsic motivation; otherwise, 35-year teacher veterans still aren’t hitting the $100k/year mark.

It’s amazing the content that you can find online, more likely than not (in my experience) authored by someone who’s never worked in that given capacity; however, they’ll attempt to foist their unfounded critical reflections on everyone whom they possibly can. This is THE recipe for misinformation.

I just completed day one of teacher PD yesterday. I switched professions after 24 years in construction management. I’m on step one of the salary scale as a single parent, and I can see the out-of-pocket expenses coming up. Having to resort to an Amazon wish list or GoFundMe is sad. Fund us!

My two kids, ages seven and 11, have undergone age-appropriate diversity training starting at very early ages. Thankfully, they are accepting of anything/one they see that doesn’t hurt them. Discrimination is a learned behavior, just as acceptance of differences is. I model broad-based acceptance.

Reasonable cause doesn’t apply to ICE. Heck, we citizens can’t even verify their identity, so we don’t know who’s real and who’s criminal. They’re one and the same. I don’t advocate protecting violent felons, but ICE needs to be held accountable in their methods, no matter their immigration status.
