You can still move freely to Ireland, naturalise after a (non-trivial but achievable) number of years, get your EU passport, and be free again. 🙂 Easier said than done if you have any kind of family commitments or strong UK ties. But it may help psychologically to know you are not totally trapped.

I appreciate your answer but I'm not aware I've changed terms. I left the UK in 2018 after 30 years, & I do not recognise what the UK Labour Party has become. It is closer to Vox than to any other Spanish party, and far too extreme for Ireland. I worry my old UK friends are so many boiling frogs.
