It looks like at least some of the trims have second row captains chairs. LeaseHackr is a great resource for advice and reports of deals. There are also listings and reviews for reputable brokers in your area. FWIW I used a broker and had a great experience but you can do it on your own too.
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
Have you considered leasing? I had never leased before in my life, but leased my current EV because the deals were too good to pass up. From a quick look at LeaseHackr, you can get an EV9 for well under $500 per month.

Realistically they’ll never get over the 2/3 threshold in the Senate without doing things like making every major city in a red state its own independent state. A more realistic option is adding seats to courts and reorganizing them, and potentially stripping some areas of jurisdiction.

Except they didn’t “do nothing.” They nominated someone and made it a campaign issue. Obviously I wish there was a magic wand that could be waved that would have solved the issue, but there wasn’t. A hindsight option that would actually make a difference would be RBG retiring in 2013.
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
Huh? Recess appointments expire AUTOMATICALLY. Literally zero effort is required to “remove” a recess appointment. And “long enough” for what? Any SCOTUS recess appointment by Obama would be gone before the end of 2017.
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
What you’re describing is also “just talk.” It’s unknowable speculation about whether some different form of talk would have moved the needle politically. FWIW Garland polled quite well in 2016. I’m not some big Garland fan either - I think he was a mediocre AG (at best).
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
And then the recess appointment only lasts for a few months…
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
What decision between January and December 2017 do you think would have come out differently with Garland on the Court? And why do you think that decision would remain after Garland left the court in December 2017 and was replaced by a MAGA?
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
Clinton frequently talked about the importance of SCOTUS, but those arguments were often downplayed by the left. She did not commit to renominating Garland. I guess we can speculate about the impact of naming a different judge in advance, but 99% of voters don’t know who individual judges are.
geauxblue.bsky.social (@geauxblue.bsky.social) reply parent
Recess appointments are very short-lived. From your own cited article: “a Garland appointment on January 3 would last until December 2017, the end of the first session of the 115th Congress.”

I’m all for standing up for principles and have no objection to introducing impeachment. But at least until the midterms, it’s basically just another form of messaging. And in this analogy the House voting on impeachment is the equivalent to an indictment, so it never even reaches the Senate “jury.”

What makes you think impeachment could pass the House and get 67 votes in the Senate to convict? If you don’t think those votes could be achieved, “impeachment” is just about messaging and not doing anything tangible. I’m not opposed to trying to impeach for messaging, but it’s still messaging.
