The United States had one of the worst COVID outcomes in the entire world from a body count standpoint. Anyone who argues with a straight face we were TOO cautious is an unserious imbecile.

A Labor Day reminder: today there isn't a single city, metro area, or state in the U.S. where a full-time minimum-wage worker can afford a modest 2-bedroom apartment. Millions of people with jobs—even multiple jobs—aren't safe from homelessness in this country.

The creepiest part of this article is the photo where Trump doesn't have on a tie, so everyone else in the photo takes off their ties as well, even though normally they'd all have on ties. Feels like a very weird "Dear Leader" sort of moment.

Yep. They want to get rid of birth control for women. They want to go back to women being servants for men and trapped by having lots of babies and only being able to depend on a man for survival.

Just some useful info: Husband has covid and we got a prescription for paxlovid. It took 5 different pharmacies to find someone who had it in stock, and when we found it, insurance wouldn't cover it.

Tossing a handful of that pile off the mountain for them periodically doesn't make sitting on the hoarded pile of gold any less evil. Unless someone is actively giving away vast portions of that wealth, they're a bad person, IMO.

I don't believe it's possible to be a billionaire and also be a good person. If you are a billionaire, even donating a tiny fraction of your money doesn't really mean much because you are still a dragon sitting on a hoarded pile of gold while the villagers around you starve.

It's outrageous. I also bought a pound of meat, and I did get the cheap one for like $7 but it's still outrageous to me that it's that much. I usually buy at aldi, and we get meat at either Costco or from a local farm (we get quarter cows) so it's much cheaper,

The new head of the CDC, Jim O’Neill, has no degree in science or medicine, and has pushed unproven treatments for COVID like ivermectin. This is so incredibly dangerous.

O’Neill, unlike Monarez, has no training in medicine or infectious disease science. He is a former speechwriter for the health department, during the Bush years, who went on to work for the tech investor and conservative megadonor Peter Thiel. During the Covid pandemic, O’Neill voiced public support for unproven treatments that were not supported by scientific evidence, including ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, as well as vitamin D as a supposed “prophylaxis”.

Yet another reminder that they have antidepressants in other countries. They don't have mass shootings of little kids at church.

Good thing bird flu isn't famously spreading all over the country and infecting more people than ever before or anything...

Or considering the real world consequences of people being constantly exposed to racism.

Have any reporters been following up with all the doctors in congress who voted for this man?

I'm so tired of "we have the tools" and then systematically removing said tools.

It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even like sending my kids to school anymore. We don’t have to live like this.

I need Trump and republicans down so far in polls by next November that democrats can win even in spite of the cheating they're definitely trying to do. Overperforming like 16-20% might manage it, but damn I'd like to see even more. The damned map needs to look like 1964's electoral map.
