It wasn't the COVID vaccine that ended confidence in CDC, it was the anti-vaxx movement and people like RFK Jr who were all attacking the vaccine and the science behind it. But, the CDC was really damaged when Trump routinely challenged Dr. Fauci's recommendations and attacked him personally.
I believe the loud talk, dirty tricks, & gridlock really took root when they elected Newt Gingrich to be House Speaker. Things really took a hard turn to the worse when he made the scene. My God, we need an intervention by Congress and the Judicial Branch as Trump has all but destroyed everything that makes our country great. He has grievously damaged our health system; his SecDef has fired most of the senior military strategists and tacticians at the Pentagon; and so on and on!
