My point is that it costs so much energy that it’s even worse for the environment than just burying or burning it. The only answer is to use less plastic.

The biggest hindrance to recycling plastic is not my bad vibes, but the fact that it is incredibly expensive and energy-intensive to recycle most common plastic refuse. Typically doing so makes things worse rather than better.
Plastic is recycled everywhere. I didn’t deny that. But only a tiny amount of it. The overwhelming majority is completely unrecylable due to mixed materials or various additives. At best it may be burned in a relatively clean facility.
Explain how industry flaks provide materials to content mills like BI in order to push their agendas? About 1.6 billion plastic bottles are used every day. This is less than one in a thousand of them.
You know that basically no plastic is recycled, right? Doesn't matter what codes are on the packaging. It's a scam from the plastic industry to make people think that (A) it's acceptable to buy things in plastic containers, and (B) when plastic ends up in landfills it's the consumers' fault.

I don’t think anyone has said that. Everyone has the same duty to be humane. It may, however, be notable for reasons of irony or otherwise when a group that has suffered in a particular way chooses to turn around and do the same to others.

You are very free to wander. It is easier to be a pedestrian in The Netherlands than almost any other country. But like with any activity there are limits. Walking into the path of faster-moving traffic is not wise. At least with bikes you get mildly injured, instead of killed by a car.

As a very well-traveled pedestrian I cannot think of a better country for safe urban walking than the Netherlands. Communicate your intentions clearly with cyclists (don’t step halfway into the bike path and suddenly stop because you lost heart) and you have nothing to worry about.
The high-speed train takes 40 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal to Rotterdam Centraal. Nobody has ever bicycled this distance in “about an hour”.
As an Amsterdam pedestrian: go if you want to go, or stop if you want to stop. You are only at risk if you are unclear about what you plan to do, making it impossible for cyclists to go around you safely. Don’t be tentative.
I live in the center of Amsterdam and walk 10km around the city each day for decades, and have never been hit by a bicycle. You are only at risk if you stumble into the bike path, or start crossing a busy place and then suddenly change course without warning.
