Yeah I have fellow students doing this and I am baffled by it. Humans really will take any easy out, even if it is both morally wrong, and actually unhelpful. (literally someone using it to "interpret" a client's dreams and Jung is fast enough to power a whole neighborhood.)
You aren't accessing the perfect consoler. Therapy is about learning to accept your humanity and the humanity of others.

Lots of studies collect demographic data to be able to examine results based on different kinds of demographics, that's not a critique at all. In social sciences we often wanna compare are lesbians happier than straight couples or whatever (they are) for example.

The factory owners in the late 19th and early 20th century did not create 40 hour work weeks, stop employing minors, pay living wages, offer benefits because they were NICE. They were rich assholes. WE the working people organized and forced change. We can still do that counseling!
The counseling field talks BIG about having a social justice focus. How counselors must be advocating for change, working for clients best interest etc. And yet all these career counseling texts are just like "well stable jobs don't exist anymore" 🤷♀️ SO BRING BACK UNIONS. Organize. Demand change!
Hi fellow psychologist! Yeah, and that is also when they need to see the modeling, have the co-regulation happen, and begin to be taught what to do appropriately in those moments. You don't just throw up your hands and ignore it which is the whole point of the original post.
Just "letting them experience them" is not actually helpful. Toddlers need to be *taught* emotional regulation, it is a skill. Permissive parenting just lets those emotions run the family life. Developmentally *appropriate* parenting shows the toddler *how* to regulate using coregulation, etc.
My mom has that face without evening TRYING and I am working at developing it!
First 5k in the bag. Average pace 11 minute miles. Had one mile within 10 seconds of being under 10 minutes. I'd love to get down to 8 minute miles again, we'll see. If in my 20s or 30s someone had told me that near 50 I'd be loving running again like I did as a teen I'd have thought you were lying.

It was, and heartbreaking. My favorite church music are those canticle settings (I suspect singing the Magnificat weekly made me who I am today politically and theologically). But I get that they and Anglican chant require a very different ear and skill. And ask singing skill fades it is worse now.

Literally the WHOLE CLASS minus readings is less work than I would do to prep for ONE Sunday of preaching and teaching. I am majorly confused. Yup, and it centers *personal belief* a very Christian concept over measurable facts. There are many things in this world where our beliefs matter. The laws of physics, the way genetics evolves, etc do not and we've got to ditch those assumptions and even that language.
The surge of anti-science and anti-intellectual rhetoric in the halls of power in the US, feverishly supported by white evangelicals, is a major reason I feel compelled to challenge the harmful ideology of young earth creationism.
It is so infuriating. It was worst with the stroke probably because those providers mostly deal with elderly retired people but this is orthopedics, they deal with young working folks all the time!
Maybe a bad experience in that place? I came from a time/area where Morning Prayer was the NORM on Sunday (listen I'm old) and so the settings for the canticles are still to this day in congregational memory. But moved to a church in another state where they had *never sung the Magnificat* 😱
What the heck doctor's offices? You can't just randomly reschedule an appointment and assume people are available. Are doctors not aware that other people have jobs, responsibilities, as full and difficult a schedule as they? *sigh*
I have a friend who got shingles at like 45 and it has me so nervous. I just want the dang shot!

IE often it just gets dumped on a place, there isn't enough strong singers who know it, so it remains awkward, difficult, and doesn't sound good and folks learn to hate it. (Lots of places don't have musicians trained in chant either bc it really is a different skill to accompany than hymns!)
If it isn't introduced and taught properly honestly it is really hard for a congregation because it doesn't tend to be in (most) congregations folk memories. And some of the settings are, frankly, unsingable. I have used some of the simplified settings and folks tend to take to those better.
I am NOT spending $30 for an eBook cookbook. Slap that shit on paper and I will but absolutely not for digital.

I don't know what a baby has to do with it? I'm a gardener and horse woman, I am HIGHLY likely to be exposed to tetanus on a regular basis and for literally decades my doctors have had me get a tetanus shot every 5 years instead of 10.
I don't think so, I'm in one of the most Democratic counties in a overall Democratic state. We are... granola crunchy.
Yeah, our local pharmacy has stopped allowing folks to get the tetanus shot at 5 years (instead of ten) when they are high risk. They USED to do it, now they tell you to come back on schedule. I suspect lawyers are the problem but maybe just power. *sigh* Everything is getting shittier.

Matthew is right: you are very likely qualified for the vaccine under one of the many conditions that put you at high risk for severe disease, and you will be doing everyone else a huge favor if you go through the hassle of telling the pharmacist you are physically inactive and getting that shot.

Altho I wouldn't marry any guy who wouldn't take his Mom aside and tell her "absolutely not, here are the boundaries." But my Mom told me over and over "you don't marry a person you marry their family unless they're willing to divorce them" and she is/was very right (love my in-laws).

Maybe an appetite stimulant? We had to do that with Emma for a bit when she was feeling punky. It helped a LOT and they can just be rubbed into the ear (wear gloves) so no pilling.
I have my annual exam in 2 weeks, I think I'm gonna message my doc and let her know I want the jab then so they can plan ahead.
What has worked with Emma is variety. I now go to the pet store once a month and just grab wet food packets at random off the shelves, anything that looks like some rich cat would eat it. She demands variety and that seems to be working.

If you’re struggling with how someone can be both an atheist & a Jew in good standing, it’s prob bc you’re assuming “Jew” and “Christian” are parallel terms. A Christian is, broadly, an adherent of the Christian religion. A Jew is a member of a people whose distinctive practices include Judaism.
Frankly kinda Evil as Google is becoming I have to say, the one thing about being on Google Fi is I get *zero* spam calls and texts. They all go straight into the "spam" box (I can review them but they don't alert or ring through). Whereas my husband's phone is going off constantly and ALWAYS spam.

Yeah I'm literally looking for "it cooks on its own and we eat it out of the crockpot recipes" I find tons like this but that doesn't help on a day I have literally 30 minutes between clients and a therapy group to eat dinner. (I work from home, but that doesn't mean I have time to cook!)

I am truly amazed how many slow cooker recipes take just 2 hours or involve an hour of prep before hand, or after. Listen I am seeing 5 clients a day and leading a therapy group in the evening I need "dump 5 things in the AM and let sit for 8 hours, eat" that's the whole point of a crock pot!

I downloaded all my Kindle books before the change, and *ahem* did something to them, and they're now on my Kobo so it has been very seamless.
Yeah I find my Kobo integrates with my library WAY easier than my Kindle does (I never got it to work on Kindle, that may have been me). I also prefer the Kindle Oasis format and Kobo has a reader with the same format and a color screen which has been lovely for highlighting. I very much enjoy mine.
So long as you used water based fountain pen ink and not artist inks it'll be fine!
