I was involved Ina boating accident this afternoon. I spent the morning working on the cure for cancer, went home for lunch, and then went waterskiing by myself. While on the slalom ski I was run over from behind at high speed by a shrimp boat. I have a skull fracture and lost 7 fingers.

Discussed something similar w spouse last night. She is adamant that one of the most important things she pays people to do in her business is answer the phone. No AI, no “push 2 for” menus, no outsourcing. You call and (1) a person (2) at that business (3) answers by the 3d ring 8-6/M-F.

Two approaches: 1. Dust off the 1994 ban, make needed updates, but you’re 90% done already. This is also easy to define for voters: “Let’s do what we did before” 2. Make the effort to write a law that permits only the type of 🔫 existing in the 1780s, call it originalist. FU, Justice Roberts

Oh it did that for me. The technical aspects were fascinating, but what I really took from it was that ultimately computation is worthless without human judgment about what is meaningful and useful. That’s a pretty good way to stay grounded.

Yeah I think they’re Ina pickle in these two issues. I expect them to pay up on this case and buy time to tweak the output to reduce exposure. Or to run out of money. Or maybe the horse will sing.
Jason Gilbert (@jrgilbert.bsky.social) reply parent
Was taking to a friend who does imports for big corps. He said lots of customers have just walked away from orders rather than pay tarrifs then import companies get stuck holding the bag. I wonder if that has something to do with this.
Jason Gilbert (@jrgilbert.bsky.social) reply parent

Once the prosecutor put her daughter on the grand jury. I thought surely that’s not allowed. Then I researched (our state’s) GJ law and realized prosecutors can do anything they want to in GJ, including hand picking the members. Good for sandwich guy, but I don’t have much faith in the institution.

Interstate commerce was unique back in the 1700s when it meant you had to float some shit down the Erie Canal. But it’s the 21st Century. We live in A Country, not 50 little fiefdoms. Grow up.
Jason Gilbert (@jrgilbert.bsky.social)
I will never understand why courts haven’t said that the internet (all of it) isn’t the primary facie example of interstate commerce and that states can’t regulate it at all. Why do we now have the “Mississippi internet”? (I know why. But it’s still wrong.)

I play rugby, and to throw the ball in from out of bounds you can throw to the 1, 2, or 3 spot in the line, and that guy needs to know it’s coming to him so he can jump up. So you need a code. We tried 1=city/2=state/3=country. Complete and utter failure. The 3 guy was jumping on “Alabama”.
