🤷‍♂️I’m just talent, part of a comedy/storytelling festival.😬 Also, still a work in progress, doesn’t come out for a year.

That’s because I’ve barely finished it and doesn’t come out for a year. Probably shouldn’t have named it, made it sound too imminent.😬

The New York mayoral polls of the last month. Mamdani’s in a very strong position. Say that in addition to his ≈40% he evenly splits the ≈10% undecideds with Cuomo. Cuomo would then need at least 8 out of 10 of all Adams and Sliwa supporters to win. Highly unlikely. Go Zohran.

The writer Ginia Bellafante's Big City @nytimes.com column became an absolute New York treasure over the last 14 years. This final one –– smart, rigorous, heartfelt, altogether splendid –– is typical. Although the column's ending, I learned, her regular pieces in the Times are not at all. Lucky us.

Big fan of economic historian @AdamTooze.bsky.social’s @OnesandToozep.bsky.social podcast. On his new episode he offers a fantastic way to frame Trump‘s very stupid view of global trade and tariffs—himself & America as giant Gulliver needlessly tied down by annoying Lilliputian foreign countries.

South Park's ICE recruitment video: pretty great. Also great: South Park and I have been around long enough to remember "South Park conservatives" and see the show's satirical sensibility remain 👍 consistent for the 20 years American "conservatism" transformed into its grotesque current state.

Really good piece by Hollywood journalist @SharonWaxman.bsky.social about Hollywood’s fast dumb panicky herd mentality rush from pre-woke to woke to post-woke. Show business: hysterical in both senses of the word. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/09/o...

Case of the Trump flunkies rushing to fly Venezuelan immigrants to the Salvador prison, defying a federal judge’s order. The 2 (of 3 randomly picked) appeals panel judges voting to overturn are the only Trump-appointed judges of the DC court’s 15. He won a 35-to-1 long shot. So: luck or Satanic aid?

You folks who wanted Trump elected because he’d keep the U.S. military out of messy unnecessary interventions: in just 7 months he’s joined Israel in a war on Iran, deployed 4700 soldiers and Marines to L.A. now this. Happy? www.nytimes.com/2025/08/08/u...

Andrew Cuomo, tough guy who’ll stand up to Trump to protect New York? On Wednesday he told 50 NYC business leaders: “Personally, I don’t want to fight with him, I don’t think he’s going to be eager to create a conflict with us.” Instead, Cuomo’ll help him “find a way to be a hero in New York City.”

According to @The_Budget_Lab, the 18% tariff tax Trump is imposing on every American consumer will soon raise the prices of fresh produce by 7%, clothes & shoes by 38% and the average new car by $5800. Etc. Plus raise unemployment and slow economic growth. Voters are going to punish Republicans.

Just as Bill Clinton campaigning for Andrew Cuomo was key to him winning the Democratic primary for mayor of New York in June, Donald Trump backing Cuomo now is sure to carry him to victory in November’s general election. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/06/n...

Make America Worse Again $7 billion appropriated last year to help 900,000 low-income families install solar panels. Jobs for installers. Each home’s energy costs cut by $400 a year forever. CO2 emissions reduced by 8 trillion tons a year, ultimately reducing energy costs more.

I wonder if Warren Buffet is aware his Berkshire Hathaway-owned energy company Chevron is paying for straight-out Fox News-created propaganda promoting Trump and a new tax provision that costs $10 billion a year and has nothing whatsoever to do with the energy business?

Example of why Andrew Cuomo lost the primary. and why he should and probably will lose the election in November. His comments early today about Israel and Gaza his and pathetic backtracking lie a few hours later:

This weekend’s episode of The Real Idiocracy: Charlamagne Tha God calmly tells GOP chair Lara Trump on her Fox News show that real conservatives are about to use her father-in-law-law’s Epstein scandal to depose him and retake the GOP, prompting an unhinged late-night Trump rant.

How much do I loathe this smiling generic GOP normie—ex Fed/Treasury technocrat, b-school economics teacher, Bush-McCain-Romney minion—who’s agreed to be Trump’s designated liar/propagandist trying to delegitimize government statistics? Like Dr. Faustus, Dr. Hassett is hellbound.
