He's right - it is "the human heart" and "mental health." It's not the shooters' hearts or mental health though. It's the collective rot that has taken over the hearts and minds of the Republican party who have sold their souls to the gun lobby.

I think the motto is "Excellence through Incompetence," though it was misprinted on the t-shirts to read "Excellence through Incontinence."

This might be a smart give-away for the EU in trade negotiations. Anyone who has driven a car in Europe knows that US style vehicles don't fit on roads or in parking spaces. Anyone who knows Europeans knows that it's unlikely that many US trucks would sell in Europe anyway.
Kurt Schmidt (@kurtschmidt.bsky.social) reply parent
Counterpoint: His ineptitude is providing Europe with an opportunity to become less reliant on the US. The EU has the resources to take care of itself. We'll see if it has the will power. If anything, Trump's isolationism will succeed, and the USA will be a sadly diminished country when he's done.
Kurt Schmidt (@kurtschmidt.bsky.social) reply parent
You're kidding right? He'll always find someone else to blame. Sadly a lot of people, media included, will just follow along without questioning. "Undoing?" His heart disease will be his undoing. (And then what?)

"As equals" is better treatment than Trump will get in the American and global press. The rest of us know he got his ass handed to him, again... And Russia is what? Quoting John McCain: "As gas station masquerading as a country." Another day of winning for the USA. Pathetic.

And for him, that time was almost 20 years ago. Seriously, retirement age for most people is around 65. Why do we allow these people to essentially grow old and die in office? I don't know Rep. Danny Davis or his politics but at 83, after 30 years, he should have passed the baton some time ago.

California should stop forwarding funds to the federal gov't so that they can save up for their own disaster relief. California (the 4th largest economy in the world) is one of the many "blue" states that pay more than they receive from the feds. If they stop paying, red states will feel the pain.

Ukraine will have their own long range missiles soon enough. The failure of the west to supply them will cost in so many ways - one of which is the lack of real world testing. Regardless of the outcome, when this ends, Ukraine will have one of the most tested and innovative militaries in the world.

It's like 3 years past the time when Hungary should have been booted from the EU. The only reason Hungary is still around is because of cheap(er) manufacturing costs than other EU nations. Europe can afford to get rid of Hungary. Hopefully one of these days they will, or at least cut off the money.

It's a supply issue, nothing the administration did. Consumer confidence is down and alternative energy is replacing oil at an increasing rate while oil producers are being encouraged to produce more, resulting in an oversupply. Eventually producers will slow down and prices will come back up.
Kurt Schmidt (@kurtschmidt.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree regarding the administration's lack of strategic intent. They "temporarily" removed tariffs on electronics and computers because the tariffs would have destroyed the US tech industry. Apple is terrified, and Dell and Lenovo stopped laptop shipments. Americans can't afford "made in America."
Kurt Schmidt (@kurtschmidt.bsky.social) reply parent
This is true for the USA. It will become isolated and its influence will diminish. The rest of the world may not fall into the same trap. Note new trade agreements between the EU, CAN, MEX, China, Japan, Korea, etc. Many nations see the benefits and inevitability of globalization.

Trust is the basis of all good negotiations. One must trust that the other party will uphold its end of the bargain. Trump's constant waffling destroys US credibility. He may get some short term concessions but in the long run, disgruntled trading partners will take their business elsewhere.
Kurt Schmidt (@kurtschmidt.bsky.social) reply parent
The USA has pissed away all credibility. It treats it's friends as enemies and expects enemies to negotiate in good faith? Since the USA is backing out of their commitment to defend Ukraine in exchange for giving up their nukes, it is hard to imagine anyone else falling for the same deal.
