It’s also worth asking families why they are picking up with cars. Do they perceive the bus as unsafe? They say some kids live very nearby: could some of those walk or bike? Is police violence or kidnapping a concern?

My credit union did something similar. I joined D— fed credit union. Then it merged with bigger R— FCU and took its name. Ok. Then many credit unions merged with M Valley FCU and took *its* name. After most open credit unions in region merged, they collectively changed the name to a random noun.

Trump is standing in front at the moment, but he isn’t leading. It’s not like he *wrote* Project 2025. If some other figurehead takes over the Federalist Society + the Heritage Foundation + Putin etc etc etc will still be going strong. Best you can say of Vance is he’s likely to stay bought.

Get well, Mr. Mayor. Whoever did this is dethpicable.

On the evening of August 30, 2025 after taking a wrong turn somewhere near Albuquerque, Mayor Giuliani was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He was flagged down by a giant male rabbit dressed up as an attractive female rabbit who identified themself as having witnessed a “moyder”. Mr. Giuliani remained on scene until a duck and a pig dressed as Old English bobbys arrived.Following this incident, while traveling on the highway, Mayor Giuliani drove into what he thought was a tunnel, but which turned out to be a painting on the side of a mountain. Mayor Giuliani’s vehicle was crushed into the shape of accordion bellows, which emitted musical notes as they expanded and contracted . A flattened Mr. Guilini waddled free from beneath the wreckage, his enlarged teeth emerging from his mouth in the shape of piano keys.HIs business partner was promptly contacted, and he was admitted to Acme Looniversity Hospital, curiously under the care of the same rabbit he encountered earlier. That’s all, folks.F. The post that kicked off the argument was from an American racist sneering at the idea of chicken tikka masala being British. He said it was as absurd as calling Mexican food “American food.” (Tex-Mex was invented in America. He might not like Texas, but it’s ours.)

It’s so frustrating, but it does appear to be correct. I’ve given up on the “mask everywhere because only idiots go anywhere unmasked!!” and shifted to “please mask in medical spaces and rooms where I am,” and “while we’re talking about health, masking in crowded spaces is a great idea!”

95% survival is certainly better than 80% or even 90%. But a 5% death rate is a LOT. One out of every kindergarten class. It’s enough to fill a community with grieving parents.

That doesn’t even account for the protective effects of measles or hepatitis A vaccines, because those aren’t given before 1 year. It would be better for surviving to second birthday. (Though the risk of accidents is higher for toddlers than babies, so the stats are different.)

It also includes news stories about Epstein. (They don’t say “overly graphic.” They don’t say “without redeeming social importance.”) It’s just a long non-exhaustive list with the kind of vicious penalties that are designed to cause over-compliance

Relative cost as well as relative time: I can buy a roast chicken from the grocery for the same price as washing and drying a load of laundry in the basement of my apartment building. Grandma didn’t pay per gallon for water or sewage. HER grandma sent laundry out the second she could afford to

“Watch the field behind the plow Turn to straight, dark, rows. Feel the trickle in your toes. Blow the dust cake from your nose Hear the tractors’ steady roar, No, you can’t stop now. There’s victory in every quarter mile.” Whose victory, Stan? The desert’s?

It’s probably safer for the kids that they don’t come. Venezuelan teens might listen to gangsta rap or buy a Chicago Bulls hat if they change planes at O’Hare. Or might talk to other Venezuelan teens.

Staying away from the United States is certainly prudent! Tourists should go elsewhere, but some in the comics business would lose a lot of money if they stayed away. I understand why they take the risk. And it’s not like LA or NYC are safer than SD. If you’re there, best to support others.

What do you mean by “speculative intent?” If it means “speculating in interesting directions I like,” that would rule out Rand but it doesn’t seem like a useful genre definition.

Nothing with that side effect profile would be called the “ultimate” treatment, but I agree that a lot of nicotine users were self-medicating ADHD.

I’ve been wearing a mask in London all week (as a cautious traveler who lives with somebody immunocompromised) and people have been treating me like I myself am deathly ill. A bit odd. Though convenient to be offered seats.

I’ve heard of many different kinds of alternative therapies. Not this one. I wonder how insurance codes it, and if you have to get prior approval for conventional care (or for the epi-pen to go with the horse.)

I am annoyed at how accessible the British National Gallery isn’t. Broken lifts, long walks to lifts, museum guides who have no idea where a lift might be. And a toilet labeled as accessible (with the little wheelchair icon), reachable with a small flight of stairs.

Sign at the exit of the National Gallery, asking people to buy a membership and come back.
