Do you have any idea how many MAGA parents, uncles and grandparents have alienated their families? Theses stories are all all over the place. People post about it every day. Technically, the final decision to “cut off” the family member(s) may rest with the victims—after they were left no choice.

I admire your compassion. I’m just sick—especially having grown up in the Bible Belt—with the way people cheapen other people’s lives and their own in these moments. One can have a relationship with God without having to view every tragedy through a “it was his time/he’s in a better place now” lens.
littlenomad (@littlenomad.bsky.social) reply parent
I do appreciate your sharp eye. There is some nuance to what he said. But it’s a totally inappropriate thing to say in the eyes, I think, of most people. It’s on the same page as “thoughts and prayers.” Better not to say anything at all.

We don’t have to forgive these people in our hearts (I find voting for Trump in 2024 to be unforgivable in concept), but at the same time we don’t have to actively harm these people and their kids. Nor do we have to wish harm upon them. This shouldn’t be difficult.
