To confront racism he would have to locate the spine he discarded when he took office. At the same time he would need to get rid of the homophobia and transphobia he has either instilled in his party of actively promoted into his cabinet. Sorry to say but I cannot see any of those things happening.

Those workers wanted to write their own stories, so they copied and simplified the glyphs into something that only required the knowledge of a few symbols which strug together could express anything they needed. So instead of having to learn over 700 symbols they only needed 20 to 30.

A quick thought for those who are so anti migrants,l. If it weren't for a bunch of migrant workers in ancient Egypt, we may not be writing about migrants at all. This is because at that time only the elite were taught how to read and write hieroglyphs.

Unfortunately the latter is probably more accurate, both now and to a degree historically as well. Historically the USA has always been relatively impenetrable simply due to geography.

1930's Germany springs to mind. The very thing ECHR was set up to prevent happening again. Thankfully we still have access to it for the time being, and oh boy do we need to use it.

* it is a pointless scheme, because everyone permitted to work can already prove it, either with a UK passport of a share code to show that their visa permits them to work. So this supposed id scheme is an expensive waste of time.
Lymbat (@lymbat.bsky.social) reply parent
Of course they will. Fortunately in doing so they will place the entirely pointless scheme* on very shaky grounds, as the biological sex thing is based on an incorrect interpretation of UK law, which will be overturned at some point.

I guess that makes me a bit sad, as i have a Scottish royal standard pinned to my hall wall - hopefully I can use the excuse that I am (still) proudly of Scottish decent - though it is mostly because I actually like the flag and it fits perfectly where it is (plus hardly anyone notices it).

Easy, for about a decade the water companies were fined heavily for any water polution they allowed onto our waters, rivers and sea, by the EU, resulting in them cleaning up their act and our waters becoming some of the cleanest in the EU. It took 5 years for them to reverse that after leaving EU.

Unfortunately these who have a vested interest in maintaining the 'illegal immigrant' idea appear to be a lot louder than those who just want a fair immigration system. So very few people do actually know that there are only two forms of immigration, regular (via visas) and irregular.
Lymbat (@lymbat.bsky.social) reply parent
Irregular migrants and irregular migration are close enough to the correct terms anyway (the correct terms being irregular immigrants and irregular immigration respectively).

Lymbat (@lymbat.bsky.social) reply parent
Couple of questions, are you bothered if it is limited to windos 10, or does it need to be win 11 capable. Also would a 15" screen do? Reason for asking is that we are replacing our 15" laptops at work because they cannot run win 11. Some are still reasonable devices.
Lymbat (@lymbat.bsky.social) reply parent
Thought that might be the case. If i get a chance this week, I'll have a look and see what i can find. There used to be a handy shop near St Pan.. station, that might have been a good starting place, but it closed a few years ago when the base price of new laptops dropped.
Lymbat (@lymbat.bsky.social) reply parent
If used in one location the best bet might be to get a cheapish large monitor, about 24" to 27" and plug that into the laptop. If it needs to be portable then anything above 17" tends to get expensive.

29 years ago, it was part of British Rail, which developed the APT. On privatisation, the APT was sold cheap to Fiat, only to then be bought by some private rail companies as the Pendelino at far higher price. The British public paid twice for that train. It could have made a tidy return for BR.
