Schatz is one of the biggest disappointments in the Senate. He turned out to be total quisling trash and a corrupt moral coward after initially having some social media savvy as far as Dem senators go.
He's authentic and has a strong moral compass he won't abandon for votes or from pressure by right wing propaganda.

Itās insane and itās a clear signal that many Demsā āpolitical instinctsā are a flimsy front for neurosis and conflict aversion. They hesitate to lean on the largest protest movements in US history (again this year!) but quake in terror at the slightest hint of right-wing grassroots sentiment.
This is "the one big trick" that the right has mastered. They present their movement as just "the authentic voice of the volk outraged by Democratic overreach," when really what they're doing is just old fashioned political mobilization. Organize a passle of pissed off people & call it a movement.
What these Schatz posts say to me is that Dem elected officials like him seem incapable of perceiving the right as a *political movement.* The response to Covid mitigation and the Floyd protests was not a spontaneous reaction...it was a right wing backlash organized by a reactionary movement.
Anyway...Dems need to break out of the impulse to see 200 white people protesting against Covid restrictions as "the voice of the people which we must heed" while seeing 10X as many people protesting racist police violence as "a niche special interest group that's out of step with real Americans."
Not sure how liberal "fund the police" enthusiasts take a look around and not come to the conclusion that creating a huge militarized police force is a serious problem.

I remember early November 2023. I think I was the first person on US mainstream media, while at MSNBC/Peacock, to say the G-word on TV. On my show. It was seen as hugely controversial then. It's controversial no longer. It's undeniable, irrefutable, the consensus view.
