Yeah, they couldn't find the right people to pull that one off. Shame of it is, Nigel and Tony would handle it well. I can see Nigel posing a question to Tony about whether he thinks the most is changing people, or giving them an excuse to act how they always wanted to, and Tony thinking out loud.

Now you be fair! Since his return in April he's had 9 whole matches, one of them dark, and five against Sheamus. He's had four defeats and a double countout. Much stronger booking than... literally defeating everybody in singles matches except Sammy Guevara and Bryan Danielson.

I have watched moreold #AEW this week than wrestling in the past month, searching for a single situation that happens often so I can screenshot, and yet all I can find are rear or far shots of that thing happening. And yes, I'm quickly becoming fully aware how creepy this sounds when being vague.

I get why they did it, but it just felt like there was a disconnect between the match and the gimmick. Maybe a Roulette Royale with the wheel on screen would have worked better, but that's still basically presentation of numbers coming in turn.
As a TV title should be.
To my mind, any belt needs its own stipulation to make it worthwhile. Midcard titles like the TV ones? Make it so the champ is defending no matter what the match is so long as it's televised, so if they take a pin in a tag match they also lose the title.
Homogenation.
Personally I think that's what they're aiming for here, but don't want to make the change too suddenly while both belts are so young and they already changed the name of one.
They haven't been clear how it works, but implied it's split. Having said that, when Swerve challenged for the Unified they did so under Continental rules. Personally I'd like to see a Unified Intercontinental combined belt that can travel like the International and return for the C2.

Adding to this, they used to have the Face Of The Revolution ladder match at the Revolution PPV that saw six people compete to grab a literal brass (painted plastic) ring suspended above the ring to get a shot at the TNT title. That's not been seen in a couple of years though.
...example of that being changing the Casino Battle Royale for the Casino Gauntlet. The battle royale was a twist on a formula that WWE (and other promotions) had been using since the '90s, with the changes making it stand apart. Moving to the Gauntlet, you get more of a unique flavour.

I would argue that the audience is there for both extremes of the political spectrum right now, to the point that picking your side will always bring profit. This can be seen by the two largest companies explicitly targeting very different demographics with their actions and messaging.

I'd argue that dojo shows don't really do well in the west, which is a shame as I've a taste for that sort of thing myself. Sadly the idea of following an early talent tends to fall into reality TV or gameshow bullshit far too easily and that takes over from their development story.
Well, it was never built that way. Yes, Anna Jay and Julia Hart were both signed with I think seven matches between them and learned in front of our eyes, but the idea was always that you have top performers. Those still learning get access to the greats and help booking shows outside to get reps.
They used to do house shows but it put too much pressure on performers who could be booking elsewhere, which was one of the benefits of an AEW contract. And while, yes, any show they get together for now IS going to be televised, there are dark matches on those shows that aren't.
Dickheads like that genuinely think that's impressive. A long time ago I saw one trying to chat up a visibly uncomfortable girl by talking about being so big he'd hurt her (genuinely his words!) and he just did not see the inplied threat or patheticness of the attempted boast.

Oh. I've been there. I used to watch with my daughter on my lap way back when we had Flintstone TVs. Could prepare a bottle with one hand and left the remote on the floor for volume changes. If you do get the chance, highly recommend the weeklies. It's some of the best wrestling I've ever seen.

Speaking as a marketing type guy (I have baptised myself often to purge the evil) they're doing it to show engagement with the brand on social media. You know what else does that? The great big hashtag at the top right of the screen! It annoys me they're doing it, but HOW they're doing it kills me.
If they're going to do this (and, honestly, not a fan of the idea at all), I'd raise a ticker at the bottom of the screen after each match and have a few people talking about that one during other segments. Takes less space, and is an added bonus rather than an intrusion.
On Collision they dropped like a minute of them. Thing is, they were from all through the show and then just dropped there. Makes it seem like that's all the people interested. Plus, opposite corner to the hashtag already on screen. They could have dropped it down from the tag for a neater look.
