Yeah, I usually eat less than a typical American entree in a single meal. So Iād rather pay for an entree and leave comfortably full with leftovers, rather than stuff myself so I feel like Iām getting my moneyās worth at a buffet/all you can eat situation.
But debate doesnāt translate perfectly into public speaking. I have to be kinda annoyed about something to really get locked in.
Yeah, the most important lesson I learned from doing debate is how to stubbornly keep going when Iām not naturally talented at something and when Iām anxious, but I never completely got over that anxiety. I just learned how to use that adrenaline spike to focus in on what I need to do.

I put up anti-bird stickers to hopefully avoid this again, but I think the real problem is the sparrow buffet I have accidentally created. (They line up along the railing waiting for their turn at the feeders)
I had a bird crash against my window the other day and I got up to go check on it, only to immediately be faced with a flurry of striped feathers trying to change course and not follow the sparrow into the window. Silly hawk. I went out to try to find the sparrow, but no luck.

If it was an apartment complex managed by some company, Iād feel differently, but my landlord is just a guy. A pretty nice guy renting to me at a fair rate (in so far as fair rates exist in the Chicago suburbs). So I donāt want to screw things up when I can just work up the courage to talk to him.

ALL 5 year olds have poor emotional regulation. Even āsweetā kids can have tantrums or become emotionally overwhelmed. And thatās okay. This man, on the other hand, has the capacity to regulate his emotions and to understand how his behavior impacts others, but is choosing not to do so.

PJM should be in the headlines tho. RTOs fundamentally shape the emissions & reliability of grids across the US. They do a LOT of things that people assume the government is responsible for, because they were created to reduce regulation & gov oversight of this incredibly critical infrastructure.
